This can be very hateful mix. Pressure and hot water. Learned the hard way.:(

Replace at first sign of significant wear!

I did when I was running a Bane unit, low pressure (140psi) but before I got out to where it was plugged into the house, I still had a lot of water to clean up. I agree, replace hoses at the first sign of wear.

It is a terrible thing to have a hose break while cleaning. I've had techs burned, furniture damaged (including a big screen tv,valueable art and wallpaper) and spent hours cleaning drywall and ceilings.
So now I change them often at the first sign of wear!

Mine blew while cleaning tile at 2000lbs in the home of a prominent business owner in Indianapolis. I stuck the vacuum hose over the hole and ran out and turned the truck off. I had it cleaned up before the homeowner ever knew.

Did it give you any signs before it blew? Was it old? What brand?

And yeah, putting the solution line in the vacuum line is the best thing to do!

Yes, it was old. I thought if I plugged it in to my Spinner and used a velcro strap to hold the trigger down first, and then turned on the machine I'd be OK. I was wrong! Bought 300ft of new hose that day.

    It was Goodyear Neptune 3,000+/300degrees

    Sorry to hear that.
    Neptune sucks imo.
I switched to a better hose and never looked back.

What are you using? I've never had a problem with Neptune. I actually like plastic hose a lot but there aren't any good ones for high heat/pressure.

I have always use the good year..........it plays nice and does not fight me or coil up all the time................

I buy mine from Windtrax at .70 a ft in blue or gray 180 ft at a time........so I just replace mine every year at the start of spring .......it is low cost for piece of mind and gives me a fresh look ..........

That is a great price Jim. I think it is ok if you replace it often (3-6 months) or at the very 1st sign of wear. However with the crazy heat I run I need stronger hose ratings.

3-6 MONTHS?! That's crazy! I'm looking for 3 YEARS out of my hose, and Goodyear Neptune delivers. 300ft costs me about $500. No way would I replace that twice a year:eek:

It might be crazy but it is better than being spewed with 260 degree water!!!

Parker Parflex all the way, although I wouldn't run it with very high pressure. It doesn't just break, it weeps first.

I here a lot of good things about Parker..........But I here more bad .I don't know how many people have told me they would never buy it again because it likes to coil and does not play nice.has a mind of its own......nothing worse then fighting your hose............

i have had a few hoses blow on me normally outside i replace the first 50-100 hose on my real atleast once a year. That way if somthing blows hopefully it is outside and it will not hurt anyone. Does anyone else have there hoses repaired once they blow and just keep them for back up or hoses further on the real for outside use only? that is what i do. Most of my hoses break next to the quick disconect.

What if you're doing a large commercial job and your hose is on the sidewalk of a busy street? Recipe for disaster eh? I have seen this in Toronto.
