    Hello All,
I need your advice from someone who has been there and done that.
I am considering in enrolling in a marketing Seminar. If you will.
Anyone ever attend? "Strategies for Success (SFS), How to Grow Your Business 1 Day class (GYB) Business Seminar SFS 1 Day.
    Also,
How can I seek out the knowledge to seek price per job, time,
overhead, worksheet, book or class so to speak in terms that
I can grow with and work less and make the same amount of money.
I need a strucure blueprint if you will. Besides the price to charge per square foot, time, labor and expenditures. I would like to have a book that states all of the info (guideline) that I should follow to run a successful business like I have now but not work so much. Targeting market auduence. I know. Book I need, If so, I will consult my IICRC Instructor where he will consult me and change my business. I would like to have the small guideline book first so I can make up my own mind. Where can I find such a book?
Pricing, scheduling, overhead for the carpet cleaner.
    Thanks,
    Chuck Artoux

We have a training book along with a computer program that allows you to enter the various figures for your business, calculate your overhead, look at pricing options and determine the best pricing for your market and do many "What if" scenarios.

What if I bough a new TM and had an $X a month payment etc.

What if I raised my prices 20% and lost 20% of my customers becuase of the higher pricing?

All manner of financial ways to look at your business - operating cost analysis, pricing analysis, budgets, figuring actual cost of service. Helps you know if you are making money or just staying busy.

Retail is $195. Contact me and I may give you a bargain if you catch me in a good mood. :)

I would buy Scott's book (technically it's not his book but you know what I meant). Work out some kinks in your business then go to one of the business building classes.

Just make sure you want what they're selling. I mean I went to one and it was all about growing a big multi-van operation and I don't want to do that. They spent the better half of an entire day on hiring, something I will never do again.

Go with the book Scott has save up the money to go to one business building week long classes.

    Hey just my two cents.

    Ken Raddon.

The SFS class can teach you what you want, and open your eyes to many other ideas as well. I just attended in Atlanta in march 2008.
I would say its a very good investment in your future to attend.

If your only after the numbers, then the Training book & program Scott's making available seems to be the way to go.(and he's almost always in a good mood, he's weird that way).

I work as a consultant/ coach with a couple of cleaning/restoration companys as well as plumbing,Restraunts and others. If one of them is running a business in this industry, I HIGHLY recomened it before they spend their HARD EARNED DOLLAR, for me to help. Trust me, this is a very LOW COST way to help you out. Ken's advise is also good, there is nothing that Scott endorses that is not top of the line. You will get the simple accounting and some human resource stuff from Chuck, Marketing from Billy, & Steve, well he's just STEVE, pretty self explanitory if you read some of his posts. Best of luck to whatever you decide!!

"I can grow with and work less and make the same amount of money."

Chuck, I haven't seen Scott's financial program. I'm sure it is well done or Scott wouldn't be involved. You can't go wrong analyzing your books. As Chuck Violand, our financial guru for SFS tells every class, "Every number tells a story."

However, even Scott will tell you that a financial modeling program can never replace the five intense days of "business make-over" advice you will receive at Strategies for Success. Simply put, it is the only program of it's type in the industry.

NOTE: Remember, Chuck, that when it comes to education don't fall into the "either-or" trap. You don't have to choose- why not do both? In my twenty-plus years as a carpet cleaning business owner I always earned back much more than I invested in each and every training opportunity- IF I put what I learned into practice!

Plus AFTER attending SFS, Chuck, you receive LIFETIME ongoing support from our SFS team with phone access and quarterly procedures being mailed out and it is all free. I always say that SFS gives you all the advantages of belonging to a franchise- support, procedures, a "shoulder to cry on" if you need one but none of the down side- high initial cost, never-ending royalties, limited territory and a restrictive contract.

But instead of me blathering on just send me your mailing address to stoburen@homefrontsuccess.com and I'll have Jon-Don send you a free 30 minute DVD explaining all about SFS management concepts- no charge and no pressure- all we ask is that you watch it. (I believe our remaining SFS seminars are sold out for 2008 but we will have eight Strategies seminars scattered across the U.S. in 2009- we are working out dates as I type.)

    Steve Toburen
    Director of Training
    Jon-Don's Strategies for Success

PS Thanks guys, for the kind words above about SFS. There are so many high pressure sales seminars and snake oil salesmen in the business world today it is hard for people to believe that there is one company that just wants to help- and to do so with no pressure sneaky sales tactics. But over 2,000 carpet cleaning and restoration professionals are SFS graduates and will attest to the fact that we deliver!
