seems like dryer duct cleaning would be a logical upsell for air duct cleaning, do any of you aor duct cleaners offer this when you are in the home?

I do and I also clean out the dryer itself but the good money in dryer vent cleaning is when you do them back to back all day for condos, apartment buildings, college housing, etc.

We offer it. It is easy and very profitable. Especially since we charge extra for long runs, bad clogs, removing nests and adding bird/rat covers.

I do dryer vent cleaning as well. I found an awesome tool from HD supply called a lint eater. It works great it hooks to your drill. I just landed 88 dryer vents at a complex I service last month and now I work on them in my spare time. Which lately hasnt been too much but still if will fill those gaps in the day. The only ones I dont care for are the ones on the roofs, I am not much of a heights person anymore.

Yes we do duct cleaning (residential) dryer vent is an easy add on and you must also clean the dryer itself. Also clean HRV's and central vac systems (it's an easy add on as well, most homes that have the central vac system have at least one partically blocked port)

I've had a few calls for "clogged" central vac system vents when the real problem was the airpath in the vac unit was clogged. It's not hard to tell; the whole system will have weak vacuum.

Very easy, most times just use TM (negative air) go to one port stick vacuum hose to it, and go around and open all other ports one by one. Make sure you take canister off so you don't suck up the filter bag and canister contents. Works good with two man crew, not rocket science, easy add on when you are carpet cleaning. We do alot of combo's (carpets, vents etc) on one stop. All you got to do is ask and they are happy to pay I usally charge $60 for average home. HRV's $120 average home dryer vent and dryer $60-$80 all adds on's to original duct job. Pretty soon you are leaving with $700-$800 in 4-5 hrs

Washing the dryer duct is an simple and inexpensive process. Those people having dust allergic reactions should have this done by a professional. One can always afford this price to clean clothing hair dryer tubes rather than take the chance of the damage due to a clothing hair dryer duct fire.

Don't most dryers today have those cheap flex ducts connected to them? You can't clean those, they would tear up easy. Are you referring to the dryer ducts that are metal only?

I offer it and I do not clean ducts. I only do short, easy to access runs with dryers that are easily moved and cleaned.

One problem is these new construction homes, the dryer runs are poorly designed, so its better to just to say no.

Anything long or complicated I will farm out to another company.

But the short runs are easily cleaned and its a quick 60 bucks.

I attach the vac hose to the exterior vent and fill the gaps with a towel to make a strong seal.

Luckily my butler has a large basketball sized lint bag and a small screen prior to going to the blower. Its a great point though!

If you take the lint you collected and show the customer after, they will be begging you to write a check at any amount!

Jay , you mentioned you only do short runs. Do you have any kind of agitation or air snake ? I use my duct cleaning truck and use the dryer vent cleaning system from www.heatsealequipment.com
I mentioned in an earlier post above about also doing central vac another easy add on. Just remember to take canister off so you don't suck up all the crap from the bag.
