If so cloth or plastic? Seems cloth would be safer for customer.

I try to but you go through a box so fast it's hard to keep them on the truck

I have used both. I have noticed that the plastic booties break so easily! Cloth booties seem to last longer but just like TheEyeBall mentioned, it's hard to keep them on the truck! lol

Use both. Plastic is slippery so I prefer cloth. However cloth shows dirt and might make the custy think carpet is not clean.

I guess I'm not sure. I wouldn't call them cloth, although they are definitely not plastic. I buy them at Lowe's so I don't think they are anything super high tech. The ones I use seem like a kind of heavy, fibrous paper. They are pretty durable but if I pull on them hard enough they tear.

It's NOT worth the liability in my opinion. Better to get the carpet dry, and keep them OFF of it until then.

    Thanks,
    Lee

That is actually a good point. I have found that no matter how careful you are it's still pretty easy to track up wet carpet. BUT, we all have those customers that are gonna walk all over it no matter what you tell them. Those are the people that need booties!

Plus, people like free stuff. Even if the customer is going to stay off the carpet your company looks more professional leaving something with them just in case.

You gotta love those customers that will let their dogs back on the carpet the second you load up all your hoses, even after you told them no animals back on the carpet for atleast 24 hours. In my opinion, if a dog walks back on the carpet while any moisture is still set on it, the carpet will brown out from the dogs oils from their feet. true or not true? either way I always tell the customer, the longer you stay off the carpet, the longer it will stay clean! :)

After I slipped a few times wearing 'booties' I avoid them at all costs.

As it is, with a proper cleaning, the carpet is going to dry quickly anways, not like when I started and you could look at 6+ hours of drying time.

I found that the cost of the booties compared to the effectiveness just wasn't worth it. We try to look and act as professional as possible but as soon as we pack up and leave most people forget everything we told them. I have used cloth and plastic. The plastic would tear easily and were a hazard when you went from a carpeted surface to a non carpeted surface, and the cloth ones we used would actually attract lint to them.

I always tell them if you walk on it before it's dry, you foot will mash the carpet tuff bundles and it will take longer to dry, works for us. We have plenty of booties in the shop, just don't feel comfortable with giving them out, heck I've even tripped my ownself wearing them.

Billy, I do not say this in a sarcastic way, but we need to pattern ourselves after you, you run a first class operation from what I can see. I wish you the very best.

Man you guys buy cheap plastic shoe covers. get the good ones. and setup your blowers to speed up drying all together. generally the first room cleaned is dry before I finish the last room. Setup a blower in each room as the job goes on. then while your loading up and retreiving the first placed blower the other rooms are nearly dry. then take the first blower and set it in the last room done. All is dry within an hour. my two pennies..
