I just recently bought a used Prochem Performer 405 with only 1400 hrs on it. The unit worked great at the time of purchase, but we noticed a lot of scale builup in the screens and manifolds etc. Recently I was cleaning and noticed a loss of pressure at the wand. The machine read 500 psi at the guage, so I knew there had to be a blockage somewhere. In taking some things apart I noticed a ton of scale buildup in the output manifold to the solution lines. But after cleaning the output manifold the situation with the pressure at the solution output was still present. So I conected the hose that goes into the HX to the solution output manifold and the pressure was back to normal, so the major block was narrowed down to the heat exchanger. So after fighting with rusted bolts for hours, I finally got the HX removed and dropped it off at a radiator repair shop to have it soaked and flushed out. The place soaked it overnight and still couldnt remove the blockage.
So, is there anything I can do to repair the hx, or am I just screwed into having to buy a new one? If I have to buy a new one is there anyone that sells them for an affordable price? Im about ready to take a plasma cutter to this thing and reverse engineer this hx and build one myself to save money.

Hold the heat exchanger vertical and pour straight descaler into it. The scale and lime should melt on contact. Odds or whomever dunked it left air pockets inside it.

Thanks, Ill give that a try and report back. Sure would be easier than cutting the thing in half.

radiator shop should have some pretty powerfull stuff they can put a drip it with like ara said, the stuff ive seen radiator shops use smokes when its being dripped its an extremely powerfull acid, might have them try putting it under pressure with the stuff
(blow it out) i had one plug solid one time took the radiator shop 2 days but it was a heck of alot cheaper than a new HX lol. hope you get er to break loose good luck
