[IMG]The EF 1 tornado that blew through north Springfield on Thursday afternoon caused a lot of damage. The heavy rain caused flooding in some parts, while the strong winds knocked trees down and even tore the roof off of a business.

Now, people around the Ozarks are working hard to cleanup the mess. Patti and John Seely of Springfield are thankful to be alive.

"I felt absolute terror. The man upstairs and I got in a close relationship yesterday (Thursday). There were a lot of prayers. We have never experienced anything like it and it was terrorizing," said Patti.

The Seely's home was in the middle of the storm's path, which created winds strong enough to knock down their 100-year-old tree.

"I happened to look out the window and I saw the tree coming and it just went down and it hit the roof. The whole place shook and we thought the branches were going to come through the window. It broke the screen, but it didn't come through the window," she said.

On Friday, the couple was busy contacting their insurance company and considering bids from many contractors.

"It feels good to know that these people are out here if we do need them, regardless of what we need. Our friends turned out here last night and then they went out and got us something to eat and brought it back," said Patti.

[IMG]Over at Bedroom Expressions in Furniture Row, workers spent Friday tearing up the carpet and salvaging anything they could after the store's roof collapsed during Thursday's storm.

"It has been a long wet night. We've have been here through the entire evening. We are working on extracting all of the water, out of all of the facilities and we're working on the drying process. We're able to get a lot more headway because we have light. Things are going are way," said Julie Mercer of the Paul Davis Restoration and Remodeling of Nixa.

Pieces of furniture that used to be carefully displayed inside the store ended up in the parking lot.

"We've got some ceiling issues and we're working on ways of how we are going to remove things the safest way possible," said Davis.

In order for the Seely couple to repair the damage done on their home, they'll have to remove that tree that fell in their yard. Meanwhile, management at Furniture Row say they will be open this weekend and having a huge sale.
