We have a 10 x 12 100% Jute rug and was wondering what the safest cleaning method would be. The rug has severe latex breakdown on backing, clients wood floor was a mess... We have allready advised client that rug will not be immersion, or HWE cleaned and that some of the pre-existing discolorations (stains) are more than likly permanent.. Would a Whittaker Machine (counter rotating brushes) softest brush and HOST be an effective, yet safe method for JUTE? I don't have experience with HOST's solvents and JUTE, but would test before doing whole rug. OR other method??? Is there anything we can do about the latex breaking down on backing? - Would turning rug over and brush rolling backside with new seam sealer (latex) be of any value?? Client loves this rug... Thanks in advance for your expertise and guidance.. Mike PIC's
I have cleaned using 100 psi and dry quickly Prespray lightly, aggitate with rag, fels-naptha on bad areas They do not clean up that good.
I would use Host or a similar product along with counter-rotating brush machine. It is either that or replace the rug.
I have actually used HOST with a whittaker machine on a rug just like that. It worked fairly well and looked better after cleaning. That is probably the safest way to clean it.
