just bought a used carpet van w/hm direct drive. it uses the 280 cat pump. the pump was leaking so i removed the discharge manifold and its cracked. I was wondering what would cause it to crack and if its better to repair this pump or replace it.

Was it in a climate where it could have froze?

it could have. i live in michigan. i was wondering if the manifold could build enough pressure from a clogged hose to crack it.

Doesn't seem possible. More than likely as Kevin alluded to it was probably frozen. You may have other problems like heat exchangers leaking too. My experience that not all problems show up right away when exposed to freezing temps and may come up at any time. So keep a close eye on all components that can be affected by weather.

thanks, I'll replace the manifold and check for more leaks. This is my first carpet van and im probably not running it till next spring, so i have plenty of time to break more stuff before i get started.
