Am I nuts or is it normal to have to get some many licenses, I applied today for my master business license and found out that every city I want to work in also requires one so if you want to work in a large metro area that has a whole bunch of cities you have to get a license in every one.

Seems to me they just do this to generate revenue for the city, I don't think they really care at all that you are conducting business they are just looking for revenue from permits & sales tax.

I am an LLC licensed with my state so I am legally allowed to do work in any city in my state without having a business license for each city (KY), and in Indiana there are 2 professions where you don't have to have a business license, Painter and anything dealing with carpet, so I am set.

In Tennessee we needed a license for the city and county where the business was located. Our service area also included some of Northern Alabama. In that state , it was required to have a license for every town you worked in.

If I was asked to work in a town where I did not have a license, I would add the $20 or so into the cost of the cleaning service.

    Alabama sucks.

I cleaned for two lesbian women in a one horse town once and the podunk municipality is STILL sending me warnings to buy a license.

There might be three houses in the whole town.

What does the fact they are lesbians have to do with anything?

I don't think he really met any disrespect by his description of the situation. I know I say things frequently that are misunderstood in my meaning that is.

I shouldn't have said business licensce I should have said Contractors license and in Evansville, In the only two professions you do not have to be a licensed contractor are painting and anything to do with carpet, I used to have a remodeling business and did alot of work in Evansville and got fined big time since I wasn't a Licensed General Contractor by the State of Indiana. I had to take all the General Contractors classes and tests in Indianapolis and then renew my license every year and believe me it wasn't cheap.:(

Who said anything about taking offense? I just asked what it had to do with anything.

So I guess this means we are going to be subjected to gay jokes here now.
