I thought I had lost these picture.

The fire was caused by the heater fan under the dash. . It wasnt funny at the time but in retrospect it was hillarious.

I had started up my van on a cold January morning then went back inside to have some coffee. When I came back out and saw the fire I freaked. I then immediately ran to the water hose but it was not there but around the back of the house and would not reach. So i rushed to hook up water to front.I then turned on the water and started running toward the van but there was a knot in the hose and it stopped me short causing me to fall comically. Finally I got the the hose to the van only to find the water was frozen.lol. And so finally I took cover and waited for the fire department. While watching the van burn and waiting for the fire department to arrive my van engine attempted to turn over about a half dozen times as if in pain or just to say goodbye.

Wow, sorry for your loss even if it was in 98'. Judging from your story, it was the van's time to go, something or someone did not want you to put out that fire.

Looks terrible....Glad your ok. Did you have any trouble dealing with your insurance company over this?

On a lighter side, my luck goes the same as yours did that day. Myself I would have continued drinking my coffee and watched the truck burn.

The part I saw as funny was you had a truck mount in that little thing.

This picture brings up a good point. Do you all insure your truck mount equipment seperately from your truck/van/trailer on a "rider" policy or will your insurance company cover the TM since it is "attached" to the vehicle?

Leroy, I was one year into a 3 year lease. Insurance paid off equipment only. My homeowners insurance took care of the van.

I hope you are carrying a fire extinguisher now! I had an experience with a fire in my previous van but was able to get it put out thanks to my extinguisher before it did too much damage.
