What's a safe way to get bug residue off a front end of a van? It takes forever to wash it off. But I want something safe for the paint so I can use it repeatedly. Any recommendations?? Rob
My uncle owned many car washes and he always said caranuba wax with a little elbow grease and it will all come off without harming the paint. Good Luck!
Auto parts stores or wal-mart sells a can of tar/bug remover you can use. Spray it on and let it dwell a few minutes and scrub it off with a delicate scrub pad. Works good for me.
Get some quick detail spray (Meguiars or Mothers) and spray the front end. Wipe with a damp cotton towel and buff/dry with a microfiber. Should take about 5 minutes. Matt
Get some degreaser and apply it dilluted accordingly with water, and pressure wash it off no need for elbow grease here!
Wet van and wipe bugs away with a Bounce dryer sheet or any dryer sheet. The fabric softener cuts through the dried bugs like Power Strike cuts through DOG DIRT!
I use wesleys bleach. Same stuff u use to clean the tires.Spray in on and then wipe it off with a scub pad.
mineral spirits !!!!! does the job for you without having to scrub scrub scrub you wont break a sweat
Mineral spirits and bleach? Take note of how many GM vans you see with paint peeling off the hoods. Are they the guys that use paint thinner and bleach?
GM had a severe problem with paint for several years. It would peel if you just looked at it. No strong cleaners required. Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk
This is a BIG FLORIDA problem with LOVE BUGS..I always use Dawn some and a light pressure wash ..comes right off..Beware the bugs will take your paint off if not cleaned asap..When traveling to miami i would stop at like 3 carwashes on the way..I had a $3,000 paint job and wasn't taking any chances..
Turtle wax bug and tar remover it is in a green spary bottle. wal mart $3.00. Dish detergent is also a wax remover so I don't recommend it. I've noticed alot of vans with paint misssing from the front of the hoods.
Mineral Spirits do not contain acetones....They will not harm paint surfaces...You can buy it at any hardware paint store under the name Varasol....It is great for removing wax before claying and as a tar/bug remover..It is also great for getting the dreaded "Dead Wax Residue this info can be found on autopia.com
We use Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax 2.0. All the bugs come right off with my wash mitt and soapy water.
