The unit is dumping water constantly in the recovery tank. I checked to see if the 180 thermo valve went bad but no water is coming out of that hose. The other side has a solenoid on it and I believe that may be stuck open? The unit shows it is in heat mode, but i can not get the water to heat due to the constant flow of water. does this sound like it is that solenoid that is the problem. And looks like a simple fix. distributor can not work on the unit until wednesday, not an option! was going to go there and get part and do the repair in their parking lot. your help is greatly appreciated!
Your high pressure Dema solenoid is either stuck open or the coil on the solenoid has gone out which also leaves the valve in the open position. I always recommend buying a spare solenoid and a repair kit directly from the Dema company. There is a steep markup at any supplier. You can call the Dema company directly and order the whole valve or just the parts you need such as the coil or the valve repair kit. http://www.demaeng.com/product.php?id=87&catid=33 and http://www.demaeng.com/contactdema.php One thing you can do right now that could potentially fix the problem, unless it is the coil, is to take the valve off and clean the insides. Check especially the springs inside it. You will find a very small spring inside a larger one. That small spring sometimes collapses and leaves the valve open or allows water to pass through. These valves are pretty easy to deal with once you understand them and they are quick and fairly easy to repair or replace. Be sure to buy at least a couple of the valve repair kits. I doubt your supplier will carry the repair kits since they want you to buy the whole valve at a greatly increased cost. You might also want to keep at least one or two spare coils on hand, but I've only had one coil go out on me in nearly 9 years with my Boxxer. That small spring inside has been the biggest problem for me anyhow. Sometimes you can straighten the spring out again and it will start working unless the spring got damaged. The valve is the 453P 12 volt model. http://www.demaeng.com/getFile.php?id=178&type=document
Thanks a bunch, drove 3 hrs to get the part from Clean Source. Did the repair in the parking lot and every thing back to normal. I plan on rebuilding the other one. I believe the coil went bad. what other parts to you keep handy for your boxxer?
Glad you got it going. Besides the spare parts for the solenoid and a complete spare solenoid I also keep a thermal relief valve on hand. They can aslo be repaired, but I've found the cost of repairing them a little steep and it's difficult to find a place that even sells the inside parts that go bad on them. You can pretty much count on needing a new one every year or so. You might get two years if your very lucky or don't use your machine too much. When the thermal valve goes out it will quickly fill your waste tank also. You won't even be able to clean one room and your waste tank will be full of water. Those are the only two parts that have really caused me problems on the job in the last nearly 9 years with my Boxxer other than some problems with the B & S engine.
