A guy that lives by ms has a boxxer 421 with a blown motor. He has about $3500 worth of reciepts and it has 4000'hours on it. I think the motor blew from it freezing.

My question is- what's it worth, what would be considered a steal of a deal? I'm thinking $2000? Comes with real, hoses, etc.

Also, where could I pick up a motor at a great price? He was quoted $3000, no dice from me.... Not paying that.

Please let me know your thoughts anyone.

He is getting out of the biz.

It's hard to say how much it's worth, but with a blown motor I wouldn't be offering too much since there is no way to know what else may be wrong with it if it's not running. I have just been quoted replacing my motor on my Boxxer and it's very expensive. The exact replacement motor is 1850. by itself and they want at least 700. or more for installing it so over 2500. I was told you can't just slide any old motor in there either. If you buy the motor and can get it installed cheaper or do it yourself you can probably do it for under 2,000. With 4000 hours and a blown motor I wouldn't consider going over 2000. and I would really have to think twice about that. There could be other issues wrong with the machine, especially if it was allowed to freeze that could cost you another couple thousand over and above the engine. The pump could be damaged as well as the heat exchangers. Unless you plan on stripping that thing down and basically rebuilding it I don't think I'd buy it. There is just too much you don't know without actually running it. You could very easily be looking at 4 to 5,000. to repair it.

I haven't really paid much attention to it since meeting him. Too many variables to consider. I never owned a boxxer and thought I might see what the thoughts were on it. I talked to him about him forwarding me any jobs he had that he was getting calls on or contracts/contacts.... He told me about a few pizza huts he did for $75 each... Come on.... Another case of the low ballers blues.
