I have a 68 tuthill blower That keeps giving me trouble with the front bearing and now my blower is knocking. I live in a very small town so I don't have a shop that can retime it. Some people say it's not worth fixing but new this blowers costs over 6k does any one have a used one for sale? This blowe is set up directly behind the engine wth a coupler some have said that a pulley driven blower is better, does any one have any experience with that, I've always used this the coupled blowers never had any problems until now.
There is a guy on *********** that had a line on 59 blowers, Michael Lochhart, LCS cleaning, If you want a slightly smaller blower. Should work. PS The other board that so is named after someone named MIke, Management, Just tryin to help someone, not promote.
I have a new 59 blower in my shop if you need one. However they are not that hard to rebuild. To learn how,go to our TMF Youtube link, click on "How to" videos and there are 5 videos in there showing how to rebuild a blower. what are the cfm on a 59? is there alot of diffrence between the 59 and 68? how much does a new one run? and ub your opinion wich way is better a coupled blower or a belt driven? p.s. great videos
The 59 Blower can actually produce more cfm than the 68 in some cases. The reason is it has a longer arm to it and generally is turned faster than most 68 installations. I prefer belt installations over direct drive setups myself. That way you can dial in the best operating speed of each component. They rarely optimum turning at the same speed which is the way you have to do it with direct drive. More maintenance with the belts but longer life and better performance in my experience.
Man if youve got front bearings going out like that sounds like you mayhave an allignment issue on your coupler. timing a blower isnt that difficult if your even somewhat mechanically inclined. Call the manufacturer and see if they can walk you thru it and give you the specs I would bet they can.
