we use contractors paper. paper allows the moisture to escape. we cover the face of the rug with paper to protect the fibers, roll the rug up and then wrap the rug with contractors paper and tape it closed.

you can purchase the paper at home depot or lowes.

I used brown Kraft paper. It comes in various sized rolls. We used 18" and 24" wide rolls.

Some operations use Tyvek for added protection if rugs were being stored for a while rather than just transported.

The key is to be sure moisture can escape. You don't want plastic wrap that traps moisture inside.

i believe that the paper not only helps protect the rug during transport but also shows the client that you care.

Hook up with a carpet retailer and get the wrapping that comes on rolls from the mills. as a last resort, you also can dumpster dive carpet stores for clean and dry wrappers. Consider it recycling.
