I have a 12 inch Sanitaire upright and was wondering if I can change the roller brush for a metal one to "beat" the rug? Also, what do you guys and gals put under the rug to help dust it? I have read about using interlocking tiles, but I couldn't find any at Lowes or HD.
    Thanks,
    Frank

The info you want lies in The Rug Chick- Lisa Wagner. Go to
    www.rugchick.com
    And use the search function.

We just set one up, it's a sanitaire with the brushes removed then double metal beater bars:

We put a sheet of heavy plastic in between the beater and the tray that way the rug edges and fringe won't get sucked in.
    This mostly Ross (eyeball) idea.

We also bought from a private seller rug grids to dust on.
I called rug badger to buy them an was basically told no "I need to buy they're education first" well... I get results.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet. That's what I'm talking about!
Did you change the beater bar or did you just remove the brushes? Can you PM where you bought the rug grids?
    Thanks, Frank

I dust the rug upside down making the dry dirt particles fall out of the fiber. The vacuum is unnecessary for this, the rug badger doesbt have vacuum at all, I do use a good vacuum after I vibrate the rug 3-4 times, I flip it over and thoroughly vacuum the top as usuall.

So do you have the discontinued one then Frank? Maybe try some vacuum stores or janitorial stores and possibly luck out and find some. The ones we got the guy found in a box full of old dusty beater bars he had laying around in his shop.

Yeah, I have the discontinued one. I'm getting the new roller brush from Jondon tomorrow that I will be using on 6 areas rugs I have to clean. We'll see how it works.

The ones Fboat is getting look like the best option next to the actual grids we use. I'm told these heavy galvanized grids we bought are the same thing that baseball stadiums drag around the field to even out the dirt. They are great. I got them by starting a thread about how to get them and a fellow TMF member called me seeing that I show my name and number on my signature and said he would sell me a set. I think we paid 800 for them. (2 rolls, each 6x10) the member shall remain unnamed, it's his business as to why he sold them, not mine to share. I'd do the same, just ask in a thread. Other wise they are 1000.00 plus like 400.00 shipping from rugbadger. But as I mentioned before when I called I was basically turned away...
