It should be the same or better. RPM's the same? Have you checked for system vacuum leaks? Like a straw with a hole in it if it leaks it will severly diminish vacuum. And does the Butler use a filter box? Robert Allen.
One of the worst things in the industry, vacuum- wise, is live vacuum reels. And Butler is famous for them. Sure, they're convenient. But so much available lift is consumed by pulling the airflow through so many loops, that not much is left at the wand. So, the first thing that comes to mind for me is to disconnect from the live reel, if you have one, and go directly to the tank. But just for the sake of looking at everything, with the system running, cap off the vacuum intake and see where the vacuum gauge stops. With the intake capped off, it should read 15". If not, you have a "hole" somewhere (like the tank seal is missing a piece, not connecting well, etc., or, the dump valve is leaking), or the system RPM's are too low. (The blower should be turning at least 3,200 RPM, in my opinion.) Now, as before, with the system running, but with nothing connected to the vacuum port of the tank, check the vacuum gauge again. It should read 3" or less, ideally. If it reads more than 3", then you have airflow restriction somewhere. (Like a dirty filter, a stick caught in an elblow somewhere and accumulating trash in a "hidden" place of the plumbing, etc.)
That's what i first did Duane, Quote "But so much available lift is consumed by pulling the airflow through so many loops, that not much is left at the wand." With my Maxx470, 31 hp. , i left it on the real, and got real bad dry times! now go striaght, and its great! Cheers, AL
I dont mean to put down Butlers, Lots of cleaners love them and swear by them, but I used one before starting my own company when i was still working for other people. There is a HUGE difference between a PTO and a slide-in unit when it comes to heat and power. I know...I'm opening up that old can of worms again.. but yes, running a long live reel like that kills what little vacuum Butlers have to begin with. You may want to look at technology and technique too, are you using wand glides? Do your techs double vac with them? How high is your pressure when you clean? Are you using rotary devices like an RX-20? (the famous overwetter)
butler vaccum we installed 10 foot 2.5 inch runner from the tank and run 75 of 2.5 inch than 75 of 2 inch straight to a old school wide mouth 2 inch titanium wand with glides with all the effort that still isnt drying like the old trucks with the roots blowers and we used the live reels and only 2 inch hose
Boy that is hard to believe! What does Butler have to say about that? And most of all, hve you ran a CFM meter to your unit and then one on the old one to compare it? Rob Allen. PS:Like the one we used with the Rug Dr video...
