Are there a couple of deodorizers that work for 90% of the customers out there? Aside from using with urine etc....to "off" the smells, are there a couple fragrances that I could keep stocked so I don't have to buy 20 different ones. I'm just talking about leaving a pleasant smell NOT figuring out which goes with skunk, urine, smoke, etc....

I've heard that men like a certain fragrance and women like a certain fragrance. Can anyone elaborate on this?

Men tend to like fruity fragrances. Women tend to like floral scents. This is not close to 100% true, but just a trend. Some people like nothing at all.

For an inexpensive fragrance that can be added to your rinse water to leave a light pleasing scent, consider Bridgepoints Lemon or Cherry deodorizers. Very concentrated so you use just a little which makes them a great value. A fragrance plus a little orodr neutralizing ability.

For general purpose products formulated primarily to get rid of odors but also have a pelasnat fragrance, look at the BRidgepoint Premium Odor Counteractant line-up.
Spice Air is the most popular with both men and women.
Apple Air, Spring Morning, Meadow Fresh and Neutral.

We haven't had to use deodorizers that much. I think the smell of the prespray and rinse is often enough for the average carpet cleaning.

The biggest beef I have with leave on deodorizers is they leave dirt attracting residue.

We use citrus deo when we have to. Customers like it, both male and female and it's an upsell.
Seems to mask odor while the carpet is damp and dissipates when drying is complete. Odors are usually gone when dry.
Most jobs we do are residential, which we use a strong enzyme on along with the rinse which has a citrus-ish scent and that seems to get rid of most odors 'cept the worst.
For the worst, OSR or a counteractant if the odorous area permits(Size wise) .

We just did a job the other day for a client that had a lil dog that peed all over the house. Maybe 50 spots. It smelled pretty pissy.
First thing we did was hit it with acid rinse to get as much of the piss up as we could W/O overwtting.
Next we used strong MB enzyme with Accelerator W 20 minute dwell, then on the rinse, MB Masterclean and Buckeye Scenturion Counteractant mixed. It has a pleasant smell and really works well.
Called the customer the next day and they said the house smelled wonderful, you would never be able to tell it was pissy.
    I'm sold on counteractant.
I think we'll use counteractant when we deodorize from now on, no more of the straight deodorizers. Those smell good for a day and go away. Better to get rid of odors than temporarily mask them.
