Would this have an adverse effect on the performance on the stain protector? Also does anyone know of a resource where I can learn more about the science of cleaning and how the solutions actually work specific to what we do. The IICRC course seemed to touch on the basics and I would like to learn more I find it very interesting. Thanks and have a GREAT weekend.

There are a variety of protectors and a huge variety of deodorizers. With so many possible combinations, there are certainly going to be times when mixing deodorizers and protectors have unwanted interactions that cause some harm to the fibers or result in the products being less effective.

There are some solvent carried deodorizers that can be added to protectors if the same solvent is the carrier. There are some water based fragrances that can be added in small amounts to water carried protectors. But in most circumstances, I would advice against mixing.

There are some good PowerPoints and videos on the www.Cleanwiki.com website where I explain the science of specific products and also general categories of products like, detergents, oxidizers, reducers and so forth.
