Well, I've put it off long enough. It's time something gets done, it's entirely TOO hot here in Houston and I need to get this thing done.

I went to a small shop that tried to fill the AC but said they system wasn't "taking" the freon. I don't know what that means, so, where to start?

I have the same prob with my ford. The compressor clutch constantly cycles on/off. I *think* it might be the orifice tube clogged from what I've read but don't know for sure.

What is yours doing? Just not getting cold, can you hear/see the compressor coming on?

I don't hear the compressor at all and I get nada but hot air out the vents when the AC is on. I took a quick look under the van, I see the copressor belt spinning, but, I don't think the compressor is working.

Could be number of things.. Compressor may have went.. Wiring could cause it like connector shorted... Fuse.. Maybe cut off switch from low freon. Its not taking freon it the compressor not coming on.. You may have lost freon due to leak..

You should have asked him what the heck he meant. Could be anything from that description. Take it to someone more reliable. Could be just a stuck valve. The inlet is like a tire valve it should press in and spring back. I seen them get jammed.

Also, not taking and not holding freon are two separate issues. If its not taking it is most likely blockage somewhere.

did some messing around over the weekend and found the clutch is not engaging so it seems as though this may be my problemo. Fuses are fine, all relays check out.

Try jumping the switch the see if it engages then. If the clutch engages after you jump the switch then its time for a new switch.
