Thread: truckmount keeps shuting off

Truckmount turns off. I can hit the over ride and start it back up but it will turn off again in a matter of minutes. I bypassed my float shut off from recovery tank and it still shuts off. Could it be the fuel filter or the fuel pump. It acts like it is running out of gas. Came home from the job and cranked it up and it run fifteen minutes without shuting off. It is a slide in unit

check your low water pressure sensor and your pump.

I too have had a LWP sensor go too. Also a defective ignition switch (terminals on the back were loose), gas tank vapor lock,fuel pump. Could be almost anything. I think posting the TM unit brand and model would help fellow readers out. Hope you get to the bottom of it Connie. spotman

I would start with a new fuel and air filter and go from there if neither has been changed in a while. Don't underestimate the problems both of those can cause. New fuel filter about once a year. Check the air filter and make sure it's clean and replace if needed. I usually put a new one every 200 hours and keep the old one for a spare. Make sure the oil is at the proper level and is not over filled. Check battery and cable connections to the fuel pump and make sure they are tight. Check for any loose fittings that could introduce air into the fuel pump. If still having problems take the fuel line loose and run some fuel into a container and see visually how it's working. In the kind of heat we've been having it is especially important to keep the van well ventilated. I try to keep all the doors and the window on the driver side open while operating. It can get really hot inside an enclosed van or truck. Installing a roof vent is something to consider. If your machine has a low oil pressure sensor disconnect it and see if the machine runs. Mine is right next to the oil filter. If your machine has high and low pressure orifices like mine does make sure they are both clean. If they get clogged the machine will over heat quickly and shut down. Descaling the machine wouldn't hurt if you have not done that lately. That's all I can think of besides some other more serious problems. Hope you get it worked out quick.

im wondering if my freedom xt is in need of a fuel pump and filter aswell.. i can go about half a days work before the truck mount shuts down like its running out of fuel.. i thought it was vapor locking because its during the hotter part of the day when this is happening..
