    Oil Leak On My Lancer

I'm getting oil leaking/spraying onto both of my blower belts and pulleys. There is also oil in that area on the frame especially underneath, although nothing on the protection cover. The other 2 belts are completely dry. The oil is not coming from the blower or pump. With everything so compact in there cannot see where the engine is leaking. So far is does not seem to affect the blower performance.

Any ideas where this 22 horse Kohler could be leaking?

Re: Oil Leak On My Lancer

I would start with checking the valve cover gaskets, oil sending unit and the rear crankshaft seal.

Re: Oil Leak On My Lancer

The leak is probably coming from multiple gaskets. I used the product Restore and high mileage oil and it helped me log over 4550 hours on my Lancer. My Kohler 22hp leaked steady from 1300hrs to over 4550. The leak got so bad it would foul out one of the spark plugs. I found champion gold spark plugs with a tiny electrode to fix this problem. Synthetic oils made my engine leak more!

Not sure of your hours on your Lancer but I feel sure you can log 5000 hours no prob.

Re: Oil Leak On My Lancer

Thanks for the info guys. Todd, the problem is that it's getting all over my blower belts. I've got just under 1900 hours on it.

Re: Oil Leak On My Lancer

I am the general service manager/tech. at piedmont cleaning equipment, where we service truck mounts and equipment, and from my experience with this problem, clean the machine throughly get as much oil as you can, the run the machine and look around with a light, if you still cant find it there is only a few choices ( look in your air cleaner if there is a lot of oil, its blowby from the rings, in the back of the engine which you seem to have the problem you have a couple of choices, the rear seal or the crankcase cover, on top the valve cover gaskets, and in the front the front main seal. if you have anymore questions just leave me a message

Re: Oil Leak On My Lancer

Thanks guys for your help. Justin, I've cleaned a lot of it up, can't seem to locate the issue even with a flashlight. But I'll try and look at those exact areas.

Re: Oil Leak On My Lancer

I had a similiar problem with my legend, turned out to be the gasket under the blower cover on top of the engine.
