I have to disagree. I really dont think checking the distributer cap is dificult at all. All you have to do is unscrew it with a phillips screwdriver and look underneith to check for wear. This can be done without removeing any plugs either so you will not lose the fireing order. Just don't overtighten the cap when putting it back on.

well I called Powerclean and we got the problem resolved. They did convince me that I need a new rotor and distrib. cap with wires. since this unit is four years old. Was this really needed? Thanks,

I change my cap and rotor about once a year! Wires usually last a long time though. I spray water on them to see if there are any cracks.
Do I get a prize for calling that one?

Ara, you have some great advice. I appreciate all the help you have given me and someday I look forward to meeting you when I roll through Chicago on one of my 5000 mile roadtrips.

  7. Thanks Ara Klujian thanked for this post
