    (ford) Genesis 59 Blower

    Hello everyone,

I was wondering if someone in this forum can help me out. I am getting a knocking noise coming from my vacuum blower. It is a roots 59. Also the belts that drive the vacuum are loose. Thank you in advance.

When is the last time you checked or changed the oil? Ever flush it out?

And if the belts are loose tighten them up.

Also they will knock if a tooth on the timing gear breaks.

    Re: (ford) Genesis 59 Blower

the knocking could be your lobes banging against each other. to check this take your belts off and spin the blower pulley by hand or spin it back and forth if you feel/hear knocking or feel play in it then your gears are worn causing your lobe timing to be off and allowing them to strike each other. also check your bearing play by pushing and pulling on the pulley if there is a lot of play your bearings are worn. you can purchase complete rebuild kits for it at http://www.pdblowers.com/ for about $400 and rob allen has a rebuild video somewhere on this site.

    Re: (ford) Genesis 59 Blower

Thank you all for the great info. I am new to the truckmount cleaning method. I have taken it for service and quickly realized that I am going to have to learn to do some things myself. Is there a list somewhere of service that has to be performed on a truckmount on a regular basis, i.e blower oil, belt tightening.?

ask your dealer if he can get you a manual for it or have him write down the maintenance schedule for you.

Hey Jeff, How many hours on TM/blower? Sounds like it might just be the belts. Not sure on you blower but some have fittings to lube them, or check the oil levels. Otherwise may need a rebuild as Kevin said. Good luck

Well, as far as hours on the TM, the meter says 1245 Hrs. I bought it used so there is no telling. The machine is in good shape. I did not know that the blower needed to be oiled and maintained. I will be changing the belts this week. I will also check the oil and do a change if needed. Again, I really appreciate all of your help. Wish I would have found this forum long ago. Your insight and advice is invaluable.

    Re: (ford) Genesis 59 Blower

Jeffrey, check the oil level on the back of blower and grease the fittings on the front before you run it anymore. if your bearings are bad due to lack of lube it may freeze up completly and make it a lot harder to rebuild. then when you change the belts and have more time check the gears as i specified.

No worries Jeff, Thats really low hours to have a problem with a blower so I bet it's just the belts. Do check blower for grease fittings and/or oil levels and check manual for proper maintenance intervals.

    Re: (ford) Genesis 59 Blower

Well, I had the blower removed and examined. The bearings inside were worn down. It was a real pain to remove it from the truckmount. I am waiting to see how much it is going to cost to repair it. A new one is out of the question right now. That particular blower goes for about 3K.

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I am in South Florida, Fort Lauderdale area. I had my blower rebuilt, but an extra one at the right price, will come in handy.
