Thumbs up Best Portable Wand for Carpet Cleaning (and small truck mounts)

We tested a lot of wands at the Porty Shootout and we had a winner by light years. Most guys were shocked by this wand. Even the truck mount guys would not put it down. We were not carrying this wand in the TMF Store but after the Porty Shootout we just picked up this model. We decided to sell it with an agitation glide but you can get it with out the glide for about 75.00 less if desired. Here is the link with the wand stats and a video review by Jaime Fabara (Locko) of TMF.

Rob, did you guys test the Evolution and Bentley wands? I have the Bentley wand and I love the swivel head.

Re: Best Portable Wand for Carpet Cleaning (and small truck mounts)

Good job Jaime! Actually I have owned 2 of those West Pak wands. One came with my Recoil 3HP and the other I just bought as an extra. I sold one of them with the Recoil 3 setup that I had. The other I sold to a customer who was in a jam and needed one in a hurry! Interestingly he took the glide off.
I liked my Glide very much!
I agree that it is a very good wand for portables or truckmounts. Not everybody likes 2 inch diameter wands. Some still even use a short 1.5 vac whip!
    This of course is preference.

    Hey Rob and Jamie,

    Great review...

Do you guys know if there is a 2" tube available for this wand?

Great, now there is a decent wand for a porty.

What's the availability of this wand? I heard it's out of stock for about three weeks. Is this true?

Of course it's out of stock! I've had 4 wands that came with different porty's. I'd about pay someone to take them. I've tweaked and twiddled until I just refuse to use a wand with a porty. Mr F gave about the best description of WHY the "freebie" wands suck so poorly.

I've got 2 of those wands that came out on the losing end in Jaime's comparison. I have to say, I think he was right on target in his assessment of the wand's shortcomings. If any of you are interested in having one or both, I will sell them CHEAP!

I my experience stainless steel lines are a problem unless you have a dedicated mounting place to protect it from being crushed. Otherwise I agree with the Wand evaluation. I love Westpak wands; I also like Samco; although cheap; it has seemed to do very well with a glide.

Re: Best Portable Wand for Carpet Cleaning (and small truck mounts)

    Jaime;

Nice review on the portable wands.

I do like the angled jets on the Wespac 12".
They do look too far apart even for 110 angles.

We like the 12" x 1.675" CMP wand which is similar to the 14" you showed with angled jets:

There is also a new 12" Titanium w/2jets,
and of course, the 12" Bentley with carbon-fiber tube.

The 12" Bentley's look to have a well-designed chamber above the lips.

Re: Best Portable Wand for Carpet Cleaning (and small truck mounts)

    LArry,
first time i saw the wand last year i thought the samething, but nope the are perfect, in fact there is a small overlap.
You can't compare the vacuum head from the cmp and the 0530 the cmp has a narrow neck and the 0530 has a smooth transition, the wand can breath better, also the jets from the cmp spray 1/2 inch away from the back wand lip, the westpak is right behind the back lip. And the cmp wand I got was shipped from you.
I will do a better video about those wands.

I have to disagree with your CMP wand description of a "narrow neck".
Below is an airflow photo from the side of a CMP 12" wand:

The wand tube on the right is 1.675" in diameter, so the piece that meets the head is at least 1.75" in diameter.
Air flows from three different directions into the 1.75" tube.
Each side of the "chamber" above the wand lips flows into the side of the tube.
The front of the "chamber" flows directly into the front of the tube.
I think the flow characteristics from the lips to the wand tube are very good.

On the jets striking 1/2 inch behind the lips, I think that gives better cleaning for normal-sized jets.
Ideal would be larger angled-jets hitting slightly closer to the lips or glide (shown two posts above).

Thanks again for taking your time to test & report on the equipment,
    Larry

Re: Best Portable Wand for Carpet Cleaning (and small truck mounts)

i cleaned today with the 0530 and the cmp, cmp with holed glide and the 0530 with the slotted glide, the difference was day and night, i saw when the carpet was drying in just 5 minutes, of course some areas. not only that i can heard the air flowing.

You know Larry, I think the best test will be you use both and then we can see, in my opinion I like the 0530, and also that is a preference. like the evolution wand, i also like it, but really but the evo and the 0530 is almost the same thing.

Re: Best Portable Wand for Carpet Cleaning (and small truck mounts)

    Locko;

Cleaning is the ULTIMATE goal of course.

    I don't have a 0530 wand to compare with,
but then you don't have a CMP with the angled-jets either.

I can send you an angle-jet plate to modify your wand to further your testing.

Noise the wand makes, means very little for actual cleaning ability.

If the jets on the 0530 are aimed right behind the back lip,
then it should dry faster, since there is less time for the water to soak in.

We do like the stainless Wespac valve design. We use it on our TM 14" angle-jet wands

    Larry

P.S. - I'll get an 0530 to test against the 12" Bentley when it is released.

I know the valve tha came with my cmp is really nice.
BTW i cannot see steam or moist coming from the jets, i have the feeling the spray is pushing vacuum slot (slotted glide). I will take a video soon. hopefully tomorrow.
