Just wondered if you sold that R-4 System yet? I know that you had a couple who couldn't come up with the funds, however, I have had several ask if you could you give us an update?

    Very best;

Anyone care to share which vac motors you guys are using for this machine.

    Ametek, Domel, or other?

I might be looking to upgrade my porty if these motors put out the lift that's advertised.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey James,

You did build the machine, correct?

Can you share which vac motors you guys used for this build? Manufacture or part number.

    Hey James,

I understand your analogy, however I fail to see how it really applies to your situation. l do agree that sharing info between race teams is not done to give a competitive edge, HOWEVER Cross American is NOT a race team. They are a production company like any other auto manufacture, Chevy, Ford, Honda, etc.

When any other company builds a production piece, they are proud of the engineering that goes into it. Many will let you look at it under a microscope. They are confident enough in their work, and sometimes patents, that no one would be able to duplicate them.

I did a TON of research before I bought my first extractor. I looked very heavily at the Cross American Recoils. I was allured to it by the bold numbers that you guys post up about it. Lets face it, the CFM that you guys claim it has is far greater than what most other manufactures even lie about. Even the website claims you can use it as a truck mount. It would seem that the people that have purchased the units go to bed with them at night. They can't praise them enough. Ed has a very loyal customer base, one that others would kill for.

Here's why I didn't buy one and never will. You guys do everything you can it seems to keep this thing a secret. It's one of the, if not the, most expensive units out there. When someone asks to justify the cost, why would I buy this machine over others? The response I seem to get is, "Oh it's something you have to experience, BUY it you'll be glad you did." Now if a client asked my to justify my prices, want to know why I'm a better cleaner than some other guy? Could I get away with saying, "Misses client, we know we're the most expensive out there, just trust us, we're the best."

Oh when you put it that way, please, I need my house clean 3 times this year then.

Lets not mention the Mikey fest results of the porty shootout last year. Now, I'm just going off of what was posted by others, but Ed was invited several times to attend the event. To get a new machine with all the bells and whistles to the door. What showed up was a 7 year old machine that fell flat on its face compared to the other units there. If Cross American could have brought a machine with all the sizzle that they have, it would have blown away the compilation. Instead, all we got was a bunch of excuses of why the Recoil wasn't running right. Or, just wait until the new models roll out. Either is was a busted machine, or they just don't live up to the hype. I guess we'll never know...

Please don't take any disrespect to my little rant. That's not what it's about. I just wish, you, and others in the Cross American family did thing differently that's all.

I wish you the best of luck with your sale though.

When it comes to this machine, it's my baby...and I can't help that Ed didn't go to the shootout. I researched, bought, and chose to install these motors, along with the other plumbing changes on my own. I don't know if Ed will be doing this with anymore of his machine's or not. When I say what it gets, there is no lie in that. I'm a carpet cleaner like you, and when I tell my customers I am the best, I prove it with my performance. Like I said before, I don't have a problem letting anyone know what's under the hood, but I'm not going to do it unless they buy the machine. I will put a guage on it, run hose on it, or any of those tests, but if you want to see the motors, buy the machine. I don't see how the 7 year old recoil at the shootout fell on it's face, when it got 2nd? I'm not in the Cross American family, or the loyal customer base. I like Ed, his machine's, and his family...but if I find something I like somewhere else, I'll buy it. I bought a Recoil, and modified it to what I wanted, with the power I wanted. I'm selling it for a good price, with hoses, and a rebuilt wand...how is that expensive for truckmount power?

    James,

The last thing that I want is this to turn into is a smack off contest about equipment. I think a lot of people, including my self, would be very interested in seeing this thing in action. Vids are very easy to make, they show the dramatic power something like this has. You can hook the gauges you have up to it and prove all the nay sayers wrong.

Plus, you could do it without compromising the info about components that you want to keep secret. I'm also willing to bet that something like that would help to sell the unit as well.

I'm sorry that I lumped you into the Recoil faithful. I guess I was just making an assumption. James, it sounds like you've build a machine that would make a lot of people jealous. I congratulate on taking the machine to another level.

Regarding the machine that when to Mikey fest. I can only go off of what other people posted, I wasn't there myself. They said that parts were falling off the machine before they could even get it inside. That it seemed to do worse when the booster vac was hooked up to it. The guys doing the test just seem to mock it the whole time. Regardless, you'd have to agree that it didn't look good for Cross American when Ed couldn't deliver a good working unit himself to the shootout, or send someone else along in his place.

I'll also concede that your price seems to be very fair for what you have listed. The pricing the I was mostly referring to was the Recoil 3's direct from Cross American. I'm sure someone out there will bite on it, but in the mean time I'd honestly love to see the power it has in a video or something.

Re: The New Hyper Velocity Recoil 4 XPS

Wes, you have got to be kidding me! LMAO!!!!!!

I had a Recoil and have since sold it to a board member. If you don't like the Recoil so be it but don't come on here calling people out for a machine you have never used or seen! It's people like you (and a few others) that start all this porty war crap....just be happy that you are healthy and are happy with the porty you have and are working, leave all this smack fest stuff for the other boards!
