OK time for another contest at TMF. This one will be unique in itself. Whoever comes up with the best idea on how to improve TMF will get this free set of Snap-n-Lock cuffs from Master-Clean, our new advertiser at TMF.

We want TMF to be the best information site on the net and would like your help to achieve it. So fire away, constructive critisism is allowed but smart alec ones will be excluded. Further contest ideas accepted also.
The TMF mods will decide which idea is the best. Runner up will recieve a hat. 3rd place will get a wand bar holder.

What about being able to rate the posts. So instead of having just the "Thanks". Maybe using a star system. I don't mean remove the thanks but add to it.

I have an idea to market TMF to a larger audience, and bring in more members. Your video you made with the Rug Doctor, got a lot of play on a lot of boards, and even the negative people couldn't deny it was a good one. If you can have a monthly video report on products and equipment, that does not benefit TMF financially, it would be well received. The video of the Rug Doctor was funny, because no one can deny the BS of Gold SOA. But, if your were to do a more serious and independent testing of products and equipment, it would gain attention and of course controversy. But, this all brings readers and discussion. I had another post on here about testing Pre-Sprays. Just like the Rug Doctor video, bring out a large piece of carpet and horizontally put all the most common stains (dirt, catchup, juice, coke, wine, coffee, musturd etc..) and tape it off vertically into as many sections as you have pre-sprays. Let the stains set for 24 hours and then comes the testing. You can choose a temperature that a lot of people can attain 200 degrees, use a hydroforce according to the pre-spray directions and spray. Grandi brush once up and down on each verticle area of pre-sprays and exract just using clean water. Video record the results and post the results. Voila, watch the BUZZ. It could piss off manufacturers with the results, and it could increase sales of others, but it will definately bring in more new members wanting to see these videos. What do you think?

Becuase the site is geared toward information. I think some kind of instructional online training classes or even live courses set up by TMF would be a great addition to the site. Could be even simple how to videos, like, how to properly mix chems, or how to properly use a wand ect..
I dont know if we are allowed to input 2 ideas but here it goes anyway. I noticed a few debates as of late. I think videotaped tests that could be done on hot topics to put an end to some old debates/issues. So new thinking and ideas can emerge from the data recieved from said tests. Press on my brothas!!!

1. TMF should be a pay forum!! I think there should be a yearly fee!! Give any new member a week trial membership and after that require them to pay an annual fee!!!!! This will weed out a lot of problems and add funds to TMF!!!

2. Require every member to put their full name and company name in the header line so you have somewhat of an idea who people are!!!

3. Find a way to show the number of people in the chat rooms from the Forums screen.

4. Have a distributor & manufacturer section where any distributor or manufacturer that wants to push their product can post there and not in other threads.

These are just thoughts. This forum is awesome!!!!

I agree with some of the other postings above. Making videos testing different products like OSR vs. Odor Resue, how do use it, the results etc. Comparing pre-sprays on carpet.

I think creating TMF apparel and stuff like you've all ready done would be better than charging everyone an anual fee.

ALSO... DRUMB ROLL! Having a ANUAL TMF EVENT where all members get together and we have suppliers give large discounts on their products etc.

I totally agree with you Ben! The only thing is if people are not forced to spend money however little amount it is they generally don't! I'll be honest with you, I have only donated $10 myself and that was because I thought I needed to do it to get something shipped. I'm sure there is a lot of time and money invested in this forum. I think the amount of information on here and the quick responses you get when you have a problem is priceless. I think an annual fee to this forum is a great investment for anyone in the business and it will help support the cause. People pay top dollar all the time for training classes and at the end of the weekend it's over. You can log in here any time and get answers. That is just my thought on the whole thing.

One more thing. I think it would be funny to see the reaction from people (especially the ones that talk about the price shoppers) when they have to pay an annual fee!!!!!

I would to see and attend TMF webinars with Guest Speakers from the industry. I have slowly stopped comingin hear so much,due to the great webinars from other sites that offering this program.
We Need More Marketing Info .....so many of us can not afford all these markting programs , Howard Pand etc. I know i CANT afford a few hundred for these programs .Can Someone pay it forward from sytems and Information you have learned and maybe paid for.

Here’s my 2 cents...position TMF as more than a BBS but almost like a trade organization. What do I mean? Well we all know about the IICRC and I am not talking about competing with that at all, but something in addition to. I think there is value in us (the members here) taking our free time and our efforts not only to learn and expand our knowledge base but also to share what we have learned to better our industry as a whole. And we, the members, should be proud of that effort and we should advertise it and broadcast it whenever possible. It adds more credibility to our businesses I think. I know that Rob, you have TMF hats and stickers and such, but to our customers, what does that mean? Well in my opinion, nothing because they don’t know what TMF is and there no tag line to explain it. If you had a sticker/decal that said something like- proud member of TMF- better cleaning through education- or something like that I would buy it and put it on my van door, maybe on my cards and letterhead not in place of but in addition to the other organizations logo’s like the IICRC. And maybe we have to earn the right to claim to be a member, like a certain number of post and/or agree to a code of ethics, and/or/or pay a membership fee etc. You get the idea.
Bottom line is I think we should all be proud to be here and trying to better our industry and I think we should figure out a way to let our customers know this. It would better TMF by not only making it more attractive to cleaners to join but also raise the bar and separate TMF for the other BBS's out there. And also hopefully better our industry as a whole. I have more thoughts on this but you get the idea.
