You are doing it for your children. They will understand ... some day.

PS Having helped many quit I think part of it is psychologically obsessing ahead of time over the symptoms you will endure. I'm not minimizing the problem, just suggesting you move forward emotionally and view the future without nasty tobacco eating holes in both your billfold AND your lungs. Also try not to spend too much time alone.
Congratulations. Making the DECISION is the first big step.

Great decision. Stick with it. You have our support!
Keep in mind the reason you are doing this. Helps ease the withdrawal symptoms. Many have said this is one of the ahrdest addictions to give up, but the benefits are so worth it.

Having a cold beer now with no smoking. Boy thats hard! I know I will do it, I am determined!

Coffee and beer was hard for me .. First thing in AM was coffee then a smoke.. Same with a beer after i want to smoke... I think you will do good keep the determined mind!!!!

Don't give up. It's tough to quit but it does get easier.

Hell I would light one up in the middle of the night and first thing when I woke up. When I say first thing I mean before I even turn the light on. I just had a little din-din and I could really use a smoke but, screw it... I'm good!

Just think of all the $$ you will be saving!! Good luck Brother wayne

I feel ya. Good luck man it might be the hardest thing you've ever done. I quit twice cold turkey for 5 months at a time but started back up like an idiot for reason I still don't know why. I recently tried the 21mg patch and it really works good if you keep it on but I wasn't ready to quit I guess. I also have the Nicotrol inhaler prescribed ($200+) but haven't used it yet. Maybe tomorrow. lol

I hope you do realize that you should not be using the nicotine patch and nicotine gum at the same time. You can actually OD on nicotine...I've not heard of anyone dying but it will make you sick.

congrats Jason! don't give up. i quit smoking cold turkey about 12yrs ago. i tried quitting many times before that but finally made a real decision to quit and stuck to it. what helped make me quit was thinking of my little daughters (who were about 4-5yrs old then) growing up into teenagers and start smoking themselves and me being the one that taught it to them. i couldn't live with that so i quit for good, cold turkey, never put another cig in my mouth and that is very important. once you allow one smoke you will do it again. i still have bad dreams sometimes that i started smoking again and i wake up mad at myself until i realize it was just a dream.
something that might help you stick to it is to have something made up like a certificate with your name and the date of when and what you quit, frame it and put it somewhere you will see it alot. it will help you stick to it and not give up what you started.
Good Luck!!! never give up. never give in.
