Taxes..... Are you done for 2009?

I am sitting inside the house today with a high of 72 degrees. I would love to go for a bike ride or a round of golf but I guess I have to get these taxes done before Monday or my accountant will file an extension.

Are you done with your taxes?

Mine are all finished and have been for about 3 weeks. I don't like to have anything hanging over me.

Filled today and I was amazed!

As you may know I bought the used box truck and El Diablo this past year in 2009. I was thinking of claiming the two as a whole for the year. It turns out I received more by depreciating the machine because there is up to a $800.00 tax credit for "NEW" equipment purchased in 2009. If I had deducted the whole amount I would have paid more in taxes rather than depreciating it. You would think the opposite is true but its not. If you bought "NEW" equipment last year make sure to get the tax credit for it! It has to be "NEW" used equipment does not qualify.
