obsever what your competiton is doing. is it their van, graphics, new van, good looking guy in their ads, cool hydraulics on the van, 22 inch DUBS with gold spokes? there uniform, the smelly tree in the van, the big massive truckmount, the lil porty they got used?
Where would you look for a plumber? a chinease restaurant menu? a dog show flyer? hmm maybe at the dog pound? No PROBABLY NOT!!!
Look for your competition, where are they at? newspaper, valpak, yellow books? billboards?

WherE are you at??? can I go to your town and easily find you?? where should I look for you? BE NOTICED!!!!!!
What have you tried? once twice? one week at a time? one month at a time?? How did that look to a customer? patheteic? desperite? tacky? professional? cheesy? BE NOTICED!!!!
What time of year did you try something?? fall? winter? spring? the day school registry is done? a holiday? a national tragedy "Katrina"??
Did you reek of cologne doing door to door?? AXE AND BOD. both give horrible migrains. Not a good first impression.
WRONG KIND OF GETTING NOTICED.
Get you nice lettered van, goto the mall parking lot. Have someone put on a clown suit. Wave with big huge deliberate waves like your trying to land a plane. not some wimpy Hi "EFF off" I am bored and feel stupid wave. Not enthusiantic enough!!!! GET NOTICED!!!!
Play "THE SUCKER CARD" get the kids dressed in cover-alls have them hold a mop, stick vac, wear yellow rubber gloves GET NOTICED!!!

Buy some strobelights to get attention BLUE AND RED work best. people love drama. I promiss you they will look.
install the strobes into the turn signals turn them on. a low blinking rate works best. BE SEEN!!!!
Park close to the doors of a mall, grocery store. Spray the area around your van with Cherry, vanilla, Lemon deo. Do not use milgo. the best smelling stuff smells SWEET like ViaFresh from coastwide labs. mmmmmm that smells good what is that smell from???? Your van silly. You got noticed with scent. one of the most strongest senses directly linked to memory!!! Be there to greet.. actlike your cleaning something. organize the back of the van. have business cards handy. it works very very well. YOU GOT NOTICED!!!

I am able to read thru the silliness. Get noticed. Dress presentable, give business cards to everyone you meet informing them of the work you do. Get noticed. They are not mind readers. Who cares if your card ends up in the trash. GET NOTICED! Would you rather throw them away? Get Noticed! Nice post Pat.

I promote getting noticed for free by working with the friends, associates and centers of influence of my desired client base.

It's easier for me to get noticed and get in the door if I let one of their trusted friends open the door for me.

Bells and whistles may work for some, I do it another way.

The strobe lights here would have the mall management calling the police.
