    Optimize Your Website Search Results

I run into alot of folks that don't seem to be getting the hits they are looking for when they start up their website. I've compiled a small list that will allow your site to start being more recognized by the larger search engines out there.

    1) Put your website on your business card and advertisements... (most important!!)
    2) Enter your websites in the following sites:

    http://www.google.com/addurl/?continue=/addurl
    https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/submit
    http://www.bing.com/webmaster/SubmitSitePage.aspx
    http://listings.local.yahoo.com/csubmit/index.php
    http://www.submitexpress.com/submit.html

    3) Back door to come up first on Google Search Engines:
Most people use the regular search engine, but a growing number of potential customers will go to the google maps function. If one were to click on that map and add their business to the local map, then the local customers could find them at the top of the list....

    Hope this helps guys...

Takes a lot more to get to the top. But, your tip would be a step in the right direction.

Search this site for more advanced tips.

For G maps Steve T has posted a great link crammed full of tips

The Cliff Note version is that it takes web cred (credibilaty) to climb to the top.

    Start building your cred!!!

There's no question that it doesn't happen over night. Everything I've read says it takes several weeks for google to crawl your page and bump it up.

1 thing I'm having trouble understanding when using Google Local Maps(GLM). Is how to come up under more than one key worded area. Example, I come up 1st "green carpet cleaning katy/houston/woodlands/sugarland tx". Thanks to Tre and being a Premium Member of the board. Now, if I want to target "carpet repairs .other areas....." how is that accomplished?

    Jose,

When you are editing your listing, under categories just add Carpet Repair as one of them. You can add up to 5 categories, from what I saw you are only using 3. Use the other two for other services you offer.

If you don't know what I mean by categories just get the full guide over at the SFS website and it has screenshots of the whole process.

Here's where you can download the full guide:

I would also recommend adding your site to Hotfrog.com and Merchant Circle. They are both very powerful local directory websites.

New Jersey Dry Carpet Cleaning. We also clean tile & grout and variety of hard surfaces.
PCS New Jersey Carpet Cleaners. Every job we do comes with our risk free 200% guarantee.

Re: Optimize Your Website Search Results

I followed the instructions in this SFS article and moved into the 2nd spot on my local Google Maps:

    http://sfs.jondon.com/5109/blog/move...local-listings

It took about 3 weeks to show up but the morning that my site moved into that spot the phone rang HALF AN HOUR LATER and said that Google Maps is where they found me!

Now if I could just get my organic search to move up...

    Tom,
That is wonderful news! I copied and pasted your post to our entire SFS team. Sometimes we feel like prophets crying alone in the desert with no one listening!

BTW, the link you posted above for the simple steps Andres shared to optimize Google Places isn't working. So here is the working link to the Google Local Listings post:

    http://sfs.jondon.com/5109/blog/move...local-listings

Just to show the fast changing nature of the Internet Andres posted this guide a little over a month ago and yet instead of "Local Listings" it is now called "Google Places"! Go figger! (However, the good news, as Tom has discovered, is all the simple steps in the post still work and will return you immediate money right now and for FREE!)

    Thank you for sharing, Tom.

    Steve
    SFS.JonDon.com

PS While the link above will definitely get you more jobs Andres just last week completed an updated and much more extensive step-by-step checklist on "How to Dominate Google Places for Carpet Cleaners". So if you download this list, Tom, my guess is your results will improve even more:

    http://sfs.jondon.com/5326/resources...s-step-by-step

I feel your pain on "organic searches", Tom. It can be a lengthy and delicate process. (Andres is working on a Report on "search strategies". However, don't overlook the value of Facebook for carpet cleaners:
