This is what I posted on another board...

QUOTE: "Actually I am just the 1st to put it together in a package to help raise the standards in our industry and help others succeed.

It took me a long time to come up with the program and make it unique in the industry.

When has anyone had a businessman with 30 years (23 for myself and 7 for another company) exp, a certified bookkeeper, an internet expert, a renowned artist and a ride along combined in one place to help people kick start their company???

I have never seen such a thing in all my years if there is. Feel free to produce another? And please have the courage to not post a pusillanimous cut and paste copycat who offers some web cam or telephone conference. It is NOT the same as being with ALL of them at the same time for a WHOLE week. This is unheard of in our industry imho.

    Robert Allen.

PS:Use DATED material or it is worthless.

Shouldn't matter if it is 100% unique or not as long as it helps someone grow their business. Besides are any of the Gurus really doing anything new & original that can't be found in this or another industry? Have you never seen a Guru write down things other people tell them?

Dave Rampage & many others have been offering parts of this type of program for years what Rob is doing is combining many things from his experience & others in one event & charging for it. Isn't this is the American Way? What he didn't do is just copy someone else's program.

Also nothing new about bulletin boards but Tre is trying to make this one his own with his ideas same as all business owners that don't want to just do the same old same old.

    Robert:
I meant no disrespect to your idea at all, I just find it funny that people with almost no certifications, experience in this field, or with any type of Mentoring experience, either taking or teaching a program... spout off as if they actually know what they are talking about. (kinda like a virgin teaching sex ed.)
As we discussed yesterday I feel mentoring is a vital part of training to take someone from the basics (like IICRC classes), to an experienced cleaner. I agree there is a need and was just curious as to what part or parts facilitated such a response.

Perhaps you need a voice chat area where ideas can be exchanged in a real time environment and questions actually get answered.

Mister captaincarpet, I'm not sure if you read Roberts post correctly. It clearly explains that he has 30 years of experience in the industry. Members of Truck Mount Forums that are here to learn more about the Carpet Cleaning industry, or to look for ideas to expand their business do not appreciate members who are only here to instigate.

“Envy is a symptom of lack of appreciation of our own uniqueness and self worth. Each of us has something to give that no one else has.”

No problem here Thomas (Captain Carpet). All of us need to work together to raise industry standards.

Now back on point. We had the privlege of having Anthony (Tony) Ehrenzeller this week. We had a great time with him. Too bad it was so short. Tony all of us at TMF and Dry-N-Clean wish you (and will help you with) continued success!

Maybe it would be good if some that take you up on this offer give a review as to what they received for this service & then follow up in a few weeks & months later & see if it gave the the kick start intended.

    Just an idea.

Thats a great idea Billy! Perhaps a few things they especially liked about the program, and also a few things that we could improve.

I have my brother going up in about 3 or 4 weeks to take the Ride-a-long. I will be happy to chronicle everything from the point of his trip forward. I am really hoping this will help our business take the next step.

I spent a week there and my favorite parts are the experience with the Chemicals, different equipment and the varying types of jobs.

I got to use many different chemicals and get to work first hand on how to use them based on the carpet types and soil levels. There are many different wands, glides, TM, sprayers, Van types, modifications and the list goes on.

Then there are the different types of jobs. We did whole houses, single rooms, upholstery, up selling, dual and single wand, really bad carpet(s), stairs, nice people, strict people, and again the list goes on.

After this, I feel allot better that I can go out and do a much better job. I base on my confidence that I have from the training at TMF's mentor program. Although it had no name at that time it was really is one of the two best moves I have made. The second (I feel confident on) is getting Duane to build my TM. I get it soon and must say I am excited. You would think it was a new sports tour bike and not a working tool!!

I would recommend that someone who needs the one on one training should go out to the Virginia Beach area and spent the week. You well take away the confidence to go out on your own. The fact that you can call the people at TMF and get answers to your “?” is worth the cost of the week.

PS. I stayed near the mall and the restaurants where great!

    New attendee...

Last week we had the pleasure of having Steve Early from the board here for a Ride-A-Long. More info to follow but we must say that Steve is a down to earth, good ole country boy from the south. He jumped right into carpet cleaning and I hope we didn't wear you out on the truck Steve, lol. :AddEmoticons08047:

    New Attendee this week...

This week we have the pleasure of mentoring Steve Webster from Richmond. He is a super guy with a lot of enthusiasm. I am sure he will go far in the carpet cleaning and restoration business!

    Rob,

I had Steve send me an email about his whole experience on the Ride Along and will post it here soon. I can be honest to say that I spoke with Steve all week during the Ride Along and it sounded like things were going really good.

One thing I might suggest is more detail and organization with making sure that everything is covered with the person coming to do the Ride Along as well as providing more in depth understanding of the chemical compounds and their uses. I will withhold passing my expectations and thoughts on what I spent on the Ride Along until I have some more feedback to give on your follow up to things he has learned after the trip and your response to some of the request for information and support upon his return home.

I think a mentoring program is great. I have a guy coming out from Michigan for a couple of weeks in December. He is a dry chem guy who wants to start using a TM. I would always be open to helping out another brother in wands.

Thanks Tim for your pointers. As the program is in it's early stages we are learning more every day. We found your brother very kind and down to earth. On the learning curve we are finding people who have little to no experience in more than one area. This makes it where we have to make a choice where to concentrate our efforts. If one has no experience and wants to know all they can about carpet cleaning then we have to decide whether to focus on this one area mostly.

I am working diligently to provide all the follow-up Tim and will have it by this weekend for you. I assure you we are here to support you in every way possible. Look forward to my follow-up information tailored to your company needs!

    Rob Allen.
