You have to pay to say that you are a certified firm and use the logo. Being a certified firm only pulls a couple jobs a year... I really don't know that it is worth it.
I have cct, oct, uct and that is it for now...

I just started taking the classes this year. And so far, I'm certified in Carpet Cleaning, Upholstery Cleaning, and Odor Control.
The upholstery cleaning class was by far the most helpful to me. The carpet cleaning class was pretty good as well, but did have a bit of unnecessary stuff in it.
But I didn't really care for the odor control class that much. We spent way too much time on blood borne pathogens, and way too little time on actual odor control. Plus, the teacher had a bad attitude and got upset with students who asked questions. One of his classes had a woman in it. And he said, "It's so easy, even SHE can do it." Needless to say, the supplier had to pay for her class to calm her down.

Who was your instructor?
I can't really say that I leaned that much in the classes I have taken, to tell you the truth. I think I have leanered more on the internet then anything. I would really like to take Jim Pembertons upholestry class. Just a long drive for me.

I voted that I'm not certified. I just started in this profession and I'm still pondering whether its worth it or not. Never Had anyone ask about it either, seems like most just want it done. The certificate does look good on websites. From what I hear, I probably learn more reading on the internet anyway.

thats the right idea but make sure you get some hands on training before jumping into water restoration, its science, you cant geuss at it.If you got any qeustions ask me i will help as much as i can.

The instructor's name was Tony Macaluso. Which is really funny because a long time ago I saw a movie about the end of the world. And the name of the Satan-possessed dude was Tony Macaluso. Going into the class, I was going to jokingly tell him that. But then after the awkwardness, I thought it might not be funny.

My point was that if I'm certed and I'm the only one in the co. then in my opionion the co. is certed too and I save the 125.00. Guess I'm not as humorous as I think i am!![]()

Rick,
I think I was in that class as well, way too much time on BBP, I think the OCT is beneficial with the Fire Class. Anyways he told me I should think about taking out my earings.![]()

I voted that I'm not certified. But I was CCT certified in 1995 - 1998.

I'm a certified journeyman textile cleaner and I've found that the classes more helpful to business owners since most if not all of the trainers are owners that can take time off from their businesses. The classes have helped me look at starting my own business in the saturated market that I'm in. Looking to also get some additional certifications to entice future money making opportunities. I have nothing but good to say about the IICRC and the classmates I learned with.

Master Textile Cleaner/Certified Firm

I let my certifications lapse years ago. I have no intention of renewing.

I am CCT certified, not a certifird firm. recently took the RRT class and looking to take the WRT in September.

I just became a certified firm. If you think about how much it is to advertise these days 125.00 is well worth it in my opinion. 1 small job will pay for it.
In addition, I am using the certified firm tri folds that you can purchase from them to market the business even further.
Becoming a certified tech is a no brainer in my opinion just to cover your A$$. Nothing can be compared to experience but the piece of paper will cover your behind.
