Does this happen to your vac hose?

Do you see this happen very often? Vac hose collapsing from the vacuum pressure on the truckmount, right at the source.

This has happened to me multiple times over the past few years, my 50 foot hose is down to about 35 feet now.

Is this normal? or do I have crappy Vac hose?

It has happened to me many of times. The only reason I think it was happening to me was because I was running the vac line to tight. The way I corrected it was by putting a six foot section of hose next to the Tm to extend the vac line. Many of times I knew it was to short and didn't feel like pulling another 50ft off the reel. While extracting I would feel suction drop run out to the Tm and see my hose look like yours in the picture.

That has happened to me when I get the vac hose too close to the exaust pipe on my van and the heat melts it. Something on your machine is blowing hot air on your vac line. The waste water you are pulling isn't that hot, especially near the machine.

Yep, I have had my vac hose melt from the exhaust heat 1 time but never just collapse from vac pressure. If its from vac pressure its probably from a weak hose. Question? was it on a corner bend when it happened? PVC pipe! you can't bend it but it won't collapse!

Sometimes Nick and I agree on things. I think the problem is heat more than vacuum. Getting to close to the exhaust.

It has happened twice to me in the last 7 days from being to close to the exhaust. If i keep this up I will not have any vac hose left. I have cut off about 6 feet now. The only time I have seen it happen from vacuum is because the hoses got crimped.

I think you guys hit the nail right on the head. The heat from the exhaust is hitting the hose, thus making it softer and the vacuum pressure does the rest to collapse the hose.

I think a good answer would be to find some sort of exhaust diverter that will fit onto the 2 7/8" opening. I havent checked to see if I can find that size yet, and still wondering if it would melt.
