    My Ideal Truckmount Engine

If I was looking for a motor that would turn my my set up would definately be a motor with a large cam with double rollers (if possible) and carb'd, with good end play.
I thought that Briggs 3cyl liquid cooled was a nice selection until I heard people said it boggged down?????????????

    Re: My Ideal Truckmount Engine

I had the same unit in my Hydramaster 470D. The problem was to much heat in south Florida and the carb was over the blower and cat. converter.I fixed it by using a hose from the carb intake to the outside panel of the unit, now has cooler air intake no problem.
I sold the Max, now have a new Larry Cobb base unit simple and very low priced and now life is easy just ask me Jack Z.

    Re: My Ideal Truckmount Engine

Ara Kholer also makes liquid cooled engines. Perhaps look into one of those. Also Kubota makes several 3 cylinder
liquid cooled gas and diesel engines. Prochem has used these and I know they are pretty stout and last a long time.
For the money the B&S Vanguards are hard to beat. I have used several truckmounts with that engine . One was
a Prochem Cub which had a 16HP the other was an 18HP in a Bridgepointe Saber. I almost forgot I also owned
a Hydramaster Crossfire 3.7 which had a 16HP Vanguard as well. Never had problems with the engines. I do not
know what blower size you have but all you have to do is look at the charts and they will tell you how much horsepower
    one needs.

Smile Re: My Ideal Truckmount Engine

THe engine in the Hydramaster 470D was a Briggs 31 hp water cooled the engine and was great but Hydramaster was unable to figure it out. Way to much heat from the area of the carb and the gas would just vaporize. The fix was easy because I.m just a carpet cleaner so I moved the air in take out to the side door and it was fixed very costly less than $5.00 but Hydramaster didn,t want to be told the truth. No more Hydramaster fo me, now using 20 hp Kohler and 45 blower and heat exchange ,thanks to Larry Cobb Dynachem $ 9500.00 jack z.

Excellant fix. That was the exact problem I heard about. I guess it sounds like an engineering flaw on hydramaster rather than a briggs problem.
