    clogged heat exchanger

    Prochem Performer 405
Main Heat Exchnager clogged with mineral deposits. I have it off the machine and am trying to break through using a strong acid. very slow and may not get results. Any suggestions besides buying a new one?
Yes I know; don't let it happen in the first place. :-)
    Thanks

Mark you should be able to pour straight descaler into the coil and it should melt its way through the coil. Especially if its off the machine you can get away with using straight descaler. If you are using muriatic acid it is better activated by heat.

Thank you kindly Ara for the advice. I did get it unclogged with the acid I was using ( took about 8 hours of watching it) and managed no damage to the exchanger . It's on the machine and running like a champ.
