Got a question for everyone here, how many different truckmounts have you purchased for your company over the entire time you have been in business?
And which truckmounts were they?![]()
Butler, Pro-Chem - legends, Bridgepoint Lancer (pro chem),gennis xt (spelling), Boxer 427, Blue line Thermal waves, and Blue line blue waves.....
We used portables and Von Schraders for our first 10 years of business. Then we bought truck mounts. Some good, some bad.
Prochem Legend (Decent)
Prochem Performer (Great engine)
Prochem Hydraulic PTO--(LEMON)
Hydramaster Spitfire (Poor unit)
Judson (Out of date, dual fuel a pain)
White Magic 1900 (Decent)
White Magic Triton (LEMON)
I had good luck with the prochems...except the battery would go dead and not charge.
Butler was a good easy unit.....
Genisis xt was a POS!!!!
Boxxer 427 was hot, but always in the shop with the spyder gear ( snapped the blowe shaft once on a six month old machine!
LOVE my Blue waves.
When I started my boss (now partner) had a Steam Action. Excellent simple machine, he had 8K hours on it when we sold it. We bought a PC Bruin II and then a couple years later a PC 405. We still have both machines but the Bruin is in storage. Prochems have been very good to me. My 405 will be 14 next year. Tough machine. We plan to retire it next year. I will likely cry. Took me a month to get over retiring the Dodge Van the 405 came in.
Well My Truck Mount is older than Me !
Running a Cleancare International Dual T300 My particular Machine is 25 years old! And according to the manual the original design dates back to 1956! Had pretty good luck with them over the years Main Problem would be the Cylinder head on the Engine would Crack. Other than that Still going Strong. one day may shout my self a Steamaction Stealth Series
Andrew
I had a home made Tm when i started and now run a Hydramaster CDS 4.7.
With the modifications my mechanic has made to this set up it will last until i hang up my wand.

2 Steam Genies PTO Great Units!
3 Steam Way 4100's Good but out of date (kerosen heated)
1 Chem Tex a POS!
1 Power Clean 442 a lemon!
1 Amtex Inferno in which I still use today and will buy a nothing one!
Steve Lillard
Supreme Commander of Clean!
Prochem Legend SE - Decent machine for residential, commercial and de-flooding
MasterBlend El Diablo - Great machine for all types of cleaning
Recoil.............Deffinetly not a truck mount.
Accelerated Hammer........A head banging nightmare.
Prochem 405.....Great machine, lots of parts and tight to work on.
Butler..........Now were talking ease and performance.
Started with shampoo machine before there was HWE. Moved to a portable.
Had three brands of truckmount
Judson
Pro Master (No longer made)
Steamway Powermatic (No longer made by Steamway, but I understand another company is making a very similar machine.)
Scott Warrington
I have my first one being installed in march and its a Boxxer 421. I dont see any 421's on here which makes me alittle worried. Has anyone owned one of these and if so any luck?
the 421's are not very powerfull. I think they are a waste of money. and to entry level
Started in 1970 with a $5000 Steam Way portable.
Then purchased the Steam Way Turbo-Matic truck mount in 1978. It had a number 5 blower, fuel oil burner, 2.5 inch vacuum system and 2.5 inch vac hose, 3/8 inch solution hose, automatic pump out, auxillary 110 generator, all standard.
A few years later purchased a used Steam Way Powermatic.
Sold Rochester Steam Way in Rochester, MN in 1984 and moved to Antioch, CA. Then purchased a barely used Powermatic from Rug Doctor in Fresno, CA to start Delta Steam Way.
Since then I have had several models of Steam Way Powermatics.
Have run a tm for just under 3 years. Cleanco Compact 47 with the pti option. 1700 hrs and runs like a top.
We started with a Kirby with the shampoo attachment
First TM was a TYF 1800, still have and it serves as back up. Atlanta at one time was the hot bed for Briggs powered, propane water heater TM's. That is a very long story.
Second was a Performer 405 (#147), been abusing it for 14 years.

My first truck I built had 4 3stage vacs. 500 psi.pump, 2cords ran off a generator and 2 cords ran in the house.
Home made 16 HP. 4 blower 3ht simple good unit.
Old Hydromaster 20 hp. Onan, built from used parts
Butler I installed in a 96 F250, reliable unit not hot.
Steamway Legacy 2100, good unit 6200 hrs.
2001 Vortex 777 great unit.
2005 Vortex 6008 lots of problems.
I have operated the Boxxer 421 for over 7 years now. It is plenty powerful and produces plenty of heat and vacuum. I get decent drying times with it and over all it has been a very decent machine. The main thing I have to say about it is that it has been reliable for me. I've had very few repairs in the last 7 years with very low maintenance cost. There are two parts on the Boxxer 421 that have caused me some problems, but both are not really expensive or difficult to replace. Those two parts are the thermal relief valve and the high pressure solenoid which is mounted on the recovery tank. You might want to keep a spare on hand of these two parts or put a new one on annually to avoid problems. If you are not already planning to do so be sure to get a water softener. Hydramaster can void your warranty if you don't use one and even if they didn't I would still highly recommend you get one. Hard water is the arch enemy of heat exchange truck mounts!!!!!!!!!! I think you will like the Boxxer 421 so don't be worried about it. There are lots of them out there with many satisfied users.
The only other truck mount I've owned that was powered by gas engine was the Century Avenger 210. I don't think they make it anymore. Mine was a lemon with frequent and multiple problems. I finally gave up on it after 3 years and sold it and bought my Boxxer. That was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Thanks Randy,
Yes I did get the water softner and I will get the extra parts to keep on hand. Appx. how much are they? Thanks for your input it puts my mind at ease. I have researched this for ever and came to the 421 because of reliability.
I get the 180 degree thermal relief valve from Jondon for about 50.00 and the high temp solenoid is about 150.00. Either of these two can be replaced fairly quickly especially the thermal relief valve. The high temp solenoid on the waste tank takes maybe 30 minutes or less and that is the harder of the two to replace. Here are the links to the parts I'm talking about. I've had to replace both of these several times in the last 7 years. They have been the main things that have caused me problems since I've had my machine.
