hydramaster is the main supplier of chemdry and I also believe ss. I do know Chemdry does alot of product improvement patents for hydramasters stuff. all of their portables are hydramaster and the thing they refer to as a power head 20 is actually an rx 20 modified with a differant skid set, and a solid tube instead of a long hose coming up from the gearbox area.

I have owned two cds units. 4.2 in a dodge and 4.8 in a gmc. I like the simplicity of the machines. The only big gripe I have is the waste tanks. They are crap. no top lip for a gasket. You must use a special gasket that wears fast. I use rx20 and think that is an amazing tool to clean, dry carpet.

Hydramaster has had an extensive line of truckm mount carpet cleaning machines through the years. I don't know all the truck mounts they have ever made. Here are the ones I know about. Anyone know anymore?

i heard their electrical systems are complex.....i heard that you have to service the radiator style heat exchanger more often and that it clogs....plus if it is a water cooled engine....it blows head gaskets around about 1300 hours.....so ive heard

I have had no luck with the 427 I had in 06 or late 05. it was a hunk of $^!@! The spyder gear between the motor and blower gave me three or four trips to get fixed and one time i had to replace the blower. The heat is great!

Thomas what is a spider gear? Did you mean the coupler??

I'm no sure in a truck mount Rob, but I would think he's meaning the same type of spider gears that are in a automobile. Spider gears are the side gears in a differential, they basicly divide the power imput between two wheels.
Heres a pic so you can get a better idea of what I'm trying to say http://www.4x4abc.com/4WD101/diff.html

Thomas must be referring to the coupling between the motor and the blower. They changed it to something called a BUCS coupler at some point. BUCS stands for Bolt Up Coupling System. Perhaps problems like Thomas had led to that change, I don't know. http://www.hydramaster.com/img/truck...r427dwg_01.gif http://www.hydramaster.com/img/truck...lower600px.gif

I've been using Hydramaster equipment a little over 7 years. I have the Boxxer 421 which has been a pretty decent and reliable machine for me with excellent performance and relatively few problems. I also use the RX-20 which has been a real life saver for me. I also have the old style Drimaster upholstery tool which is great for most upholstery cleaning. I still prefer my old Castex tool for the really nasty ones though. When I got my Boxxer 421 Jondon and Hydramaster had a promotion going and I got to get 500.00 of chemicals of my choice for Hydramaster/Cleanmaster chemicals that Jondon had in stock. I stocked up on detergents, presprays, and spotters. I got to use quite an assortment of them for quite a while and they worked great. Since none of those products qualify for Jondons' free shipping policy I quit using them after I ran out. All of their products in the Hydramaster/Cleanmaster line were very high quality and worked very well. Some of them require a special order status if ordered from Jondon which was just not worth it imho so I decided to switch out to other products Jondon carries that I don't have to pay one red cent in S&H to get.

It was a problem for awhile. I really like the idea of the BUCS. (Bolt Up coupler System)

I have a 4.2 CDS, no complaints as of yet, except that I would like to have more heat. Oh and more psi, but I believe the heat exchanger system can only handle 600psi, I think more heat and psi would be nice. This is my first unit, I have never had a truckmount.

Bobby are you sure you can only get 600 psi's? Most heat exchangers can handle at least 1200 psi's at least.

The manual on hydramaster website says on page 8, "multiple heat exchanger(600psi press)" and it says pump safe max pressure is 800psi, which I can barely get 700psi. I could be reading it wrong.........I would like 220 degrees and 1500 psi !!!

Mike Palmer was neighbor of mine in Lynnwood in 1970. He came over to our house allot to run things by my Dad (who is now a retired engineer) Mike was a window washer and wanted to get in to the carpet cleaning business. He then started building a truck mount. The first idea he brought to my dad, to look at was a flop. My Dad gave him another idea to try, which apparently worked better. Mike hired to other neighbors one Les Scott the other Jerry Thompson. I remember seeing the truck mount running and water going down the street. (We can't do that now.)
I remember that year because one night as I watch out my window mike came racing down the street in his piece of junk, load, truck and hit and killed my dog. He said he would get us another one but never did. Mike if you are reading this I still want a dog or a DriMaster Upholstery Tool. I'm serious.

Run a little 318 great heat from a small unit. The HM Distributer over here are a fantastic company and shift allot of units in the UK and Europe.
HM are the biggest in UK followed by Prochem or Blueline.
