    question about citrus solv

Hey guys, I just got done watching one of the Mark Kennedy videos, and I was wondering about the solvent he was talking about for use on the fringes of area rugs.

He was talking about a product called sublime. Now my question is, Is this an equivalant to Citrus Solv or is sublime a totally differant product? And or can you use Citrus solv in the same mannor. Thanks for your time.

For using on Area rug fringes, the citrus solv would act as a good detergent for the main dirt, but Citrus Solv is prone to leaving residue and is highly alkaline, hence I dont think its the best thing to use on fringes, unless the fringes have some sort of oil or grease on them. Citris Solv is a degreaser, works great at breaking down oily soils and grease.

Use your regular prespray, rub it in with a brush then extract with the wand. You can put another piece of carpet underneath if extracting with the wand, or if they are hanging up you can use your upholstery tool and wear a rubber glove to make sure they are well rinsed and extracted.

After "detergent" cleaning, spray the fringes with acetic or citric acid and comb it through with an old hair brush and leave to dry. This will help to ensure they dry bright without yellowing. Dont hang red orientals to dry that have white fringes, dry them flat.

There are a lot of products with names similar, But Citrus Solv, which is a Bridgepoint product, is 100% solvents. So it is not alkaline nor acid. No pH to it.

Using Citrus Solv straight does require thorough rinsing. But it can be diluted in a fringe cleaning formula and will rinse out just fine.

I suggest dampening the firnge with cold water after vacuuming step and before apply the fringe cleaner that MArk discusses. Here is the reason - Cotton is very absorbant. Cleaner is made to disolve soil and this begins to happen right away. You don't want the cotton to be absorbing soiled water. If you fill the spac with clear water first, the cleaning solution with the soil in it stays on the outside.
