Which commercial vacuum should I buy????

How's it going guys. I was wondering if you could help me choose between two different brands of vacuums I've been looking at. My vacuum is getting old and I need a new one that is reliable. My first choice is an Oreck Commercial Vacuum, and the second is a "Tennant Commercial Vacuum". I am not sure if any of you have worked with these but any and all advice will help. Thanks.

Never use a vac that has a cloth bag. All you'll be doing is polluting the customers indoor air.
Use paper bags and toss them often.

well what I use. A vac from powrflite.com called the ironhead. I have the 16" version with with the cloth bag and the dirt cup. I know, I know cloth bag is so bad. But the vacuum looks very commercial with a chrome top and handle. Plus I love to show the customer what comes out of their carpet. Then I explain to them that some of this would be left in the carpet if I didn't pre-vac. Next time a hack tries to clean their carpet they will ask about vacuuming. OH yeah and it cost me $250 delivered.

I would never buy another product from Powerflite again. They make nothing but garbage. Everthing I have ever owned from them has fallen apart and broken. Nothing but garbage in my opinion.

    Of the two you mentioned

I would go with the Tennant of the ones you mentioned. However, if I was going to spend that much money on a vacuum cleaner this is the one I would pick. http://www.jondon.com/catalog/produc...ducts_id=23643

I have been using the Orecks for about 9 years and think they are great!! I bought a commercial Oreck off ebay new for $150 a few months ago. Just keep an eye on the auctions and you will find a great deal!

For truckmount I use the turbocat zoom with a dust downer.

For inplant and other uses we use a high-end Bissel cyclonic bagless.

The problem we have with bagged vacuums is:

    a) You always seem to be out of bags

    b) The bags are expensive

    c) They dont make your brand of bags anymore.

This has happened with every friggin vacuum cleaner we ever bought that needed bags!

    proteam xp 1500

Great vac, it has 2 motors one for vac and one for the brush with a breaker to protect the belt and motor if it gets jambed. Proteam also stands behind their equipment if you have any problems. You can also buy bags in cases of 1 hundred per case if needed,

    Thats funny.

I refer a lot of business to a vacuum guy and he usually gives me bags for the business. Plus it's a sanitaire knock off so they always have that stuff in stock.

The amazing thing is vacs are like cars. Some of the colors may be different and the name changed but they are made by the same company. Not actually knock-offs just re-badged. Check Tacony Corp. Many of the CRI approved vacs...Tacony and you've probably never heard of them. Sanitaire....Electrolux and sols under a TON of names. Just a thought for you when picking.

One of the members here doesn't like powrflite and another doesn't like cloth bags. However my powrflite impresses the heck out of customers. For one its loud and another it is all chrome. This vacuum doesn't look residential at all. The other thing is that it has a dirt cup. The customer can actually see the stuff your pulling out of his carpet. I always leave the dirt cup off the vac along side the van and ask where their outside garbage is to dump it when I see them outside. My feeling is that you don't just have to clean their carpet good, but actually have to convince them that your cleaning their carpet good. I couldn't imagine using a walmart vacuum or a vacuum with a bag.
