Nice! Sounds like a pretty good gig to me!
The Rug Doctor hub here in Indy called me today and said they are looking for a carpet cleaner to fix problems caused by their machines in peoples' homes. They had been using another company for years, but evidently they are not very reliable.
I said I'd do it, so next week they are sending me to a lady's home where the Rug Doctor machine she rented leaked on her berber carpet, causing what they call a "brown out". They have sent company reps to her home twice and they can't remove the browning, and seem totally confounded as to what it is or how to get rid of it.
For $125 I'll steam clean the 2'x2' area, probably without even using any prespray, and then post spray with something acid. Problem solved. It will take longer to roll out the hoses than to fix this very simple problem.
As John Stossel says, "Gimme a break!"
Nice! Sounds like a pretty good gig to me!
I hope they stay in business.
I did a house today that the owner had done with a Rug Dr.
I charged extra to rectify things.
We should all send them Christmas cards and thank them for the extra work.

Well, the lady who had the Rug Doctor blow up in her home called today and wanted me to come after 5 on a Friday. She lives 30mi south of me in horrible traffic. I told her Mon-Fri 8 to 5. Sorry, I'm not budging on that, I have a family at home. Needless to say, I don't think I'll be working for Rug Doctor very much.
They caused the problem and now want you to bend over backward to fix their mess.
I always inform people that if they want me to come after business hours, they will have to pay the increased cost of staff etc etc.

So would you do the job then Rug Doctor send you a check? If so I have a feeling it might take a while to get paid lol.
I would do the work, but that's just me. Definately charge extra for after hours jobs and for the headache of bad traffic.
