Is this Setup Acceptable to you Part 1001

Just wondering if this setup is good enough. (like I care). This is the way we roll day in and day out. It works well for us and we never lost a job because of our truck. At least not that we know about. lol It may not look as professional as some others but you better believe you will get professional results with us. We keep our truck and equipment pretty clean and well maintained. Comments welcome.

Brother do what you do, and make good money at it! If you clean well with it and do quality work. I am running with a portable just like yours and it cleans well. If you take the time to be a good spot cleaner you will win over plenty of referrals over the big guys anyway.

Re: Is this Setup Acceptable to you Part 1001

What I care frankly doesn't matter.
If it works and your clients are happy is all that matters.
We all have to start somewhere.

Starting on a budget is a lot smarter when winter (or your slow season) comes around.

Than getting the big loan, the big truck, loads of equipment and then getting upside down and going out of business when the payment comes due.

If your clients are happy and you build your clients with smart marketing the rest will come.

Hundreds of cleaners every winter around the country with bright shiny equipment go broke every year.

    Dude, Looks great.

I know alot of people on the forums here will say its not approvalable. I say everyone starts someplace, just because its not the uber TM with the newest truck wrap doesn't mean you are not working your ass off and doing a good job!!!

One last thing, man I like that you are proud of what you have, alway be!!!

Do you do a good job? Seams like it. Do you treat your customers with dignity and respect? Must be. Do you give more than what is expected. Probably. Do you make a good living treating your business with all of the above? Like you already said "Yes". I say all this to simply say, who give a crap what I or anyone else thinks. You are doing your best and treating your customers like royalty, going above and beyond the call, be proud of what you have and keep doing what you do.
    Blessings to you

Man, I would tint the glass with those thing the buses use for propaganda, or even wrap it.
Also the equipments do not look organized.
But good for you, and you are making good money with that, just take a good care to make the equipment and tools last.

Re: Is this Setup Acceptable to you Part 1001

It's not really worth wrapping it and the windows on the Cap are tinted. We are going to use this same setup probably through the winter. Then next year sell the S10 and get a cargo van. Then fill it with all the goodies. Staying Debt Free.
It may not appear like it but everything in the truck has it's spot. Has to or it won't all fit. Hoses, Cords and HyDry Upholstery tool in the Cab . Usually I have the Rotovac 360 in the space next to my hoses but I left it at home that day since we were only doing upholstery.
2 fans behind the porty, 3 cases of chems and spotters next to it, the Dyson , rake, wand and bucket of outlet convertors and another tool all on the right. What you can't really see is my Dewalt Bag full of Tools, Plastic Tabs, Furniture Glides, etc and a Dropcloth. The green Bag has jumper cables in it. I think thats it.

Re: Is this Setup Acceptable to you Part 1001

Ok, to be honest...... Its not acceptable.......... When I first started i had portable equipment.... I bought a nice used chevy astro cargo van for $2,000. had it lettered for $250.00 So what i am trying to say is, even though I was broke and couldn't afford much. It wasnt going into my brand new Honda accord!! So you can find a nice used cheap cargo van, letter it up and people will think much more of you and your company.. Looks can be deceiving......... They may think the 2k vehicle is worth much more, and you will look more professionl.. Im not trying to be rude, I am just being honest.... And you may do better work than most with a TM. I know its possible because I did it.. I could still out clean most TM using with my Namco husky without heat! BTW I have that chevy astro for sale.. I got a new motor put in it a few months ago. We use it for janitorial now. I went from that astro to...... this.. Notice the number on the van..... its number 12 So I wish you well... Ps.. yes I was stuck in the mud.. lol

Re: Is this Setup Acceptable to you Part 1001

When I got started in 1987 all I had was a simple Castex Challenger 900, a couple buckets, and a very few chemicals. Oh, and I carried it in the back of a Ford Escort for about 2 years. Somehow I made it work. I didn't even know what a bucket heater was and relied completely on whatever heat was coming out of the customer's tap. My machine was a single vacuum motor w/100 psi and no heat. I didn't have a van for at least the first 5 years. I'm not saying a good image isn't important at all, but a good job is by far the most important. I've never had a van wrap, I have mine vinyl lettered on both sides and rear at a local shop for a little over $200. It may not be that fancy, but at least people can see from a fair distance who I am, what I do, and get my phone number. I do pick up occasional customers from it, but not often. I've seen quite a few carpet cleaners locally get in over their head and wind up going out of business. It's better to stay in the black than to be in the red any day of the week.

Re: Is this Setup Acceptable to you Part 1001

    I think it's perfectly acceptable.

Don't get caught up in the 'more is better' mentality. You're still cleaning carpets, still offering your customers the best service, you're able to get from point A to B, and its easy to transport the knowledge you have as a cleaner. You don't need a fancy gas guzzling cube truck or big van to be successful and keep your customers happy.

I happen to be living in Mexico right now. I see guys here running all sorts of businesses out of the most compact cars you can imagine. (imagine extension ladders and weed wackers strapped to the top of classic VW bugs) And you know what, it works! They're doing fine dealing with what they have.

The point is, the more is better mentality is why so many are struggling now in the states. They get in over their heads. You're playing it smart. For now, the setup you have is working, in fact, it might keep working. No shame in that.

I think if it works for you then great. As for saving money I understand, but you can find a good used mini van for dirt cheap. I bought a nice extended 1995 Aerostar for $1100 cash on craigslist just to haul rugs and do VCT cleaning. Not only would the overall image maybe look better, but you would be much more comfortable room wise and be able to be more productive.

Ok no offense takin at all. I appreciate everyones opinions. The reason we have the S10 as our main vehicle is we had it long before the Carpet Cleaning Started. We used it to haul our 6 dogs around, pick up lumber and supplies etc, etc. It actually has had a complete engine and suspension overhaul so It runs really well with lots of new parts.
A few years ago when we found out we were having a baby everything changed. I haven't put any money into the Honda since that day. It used to be my pride and joy (not to mention money pit) but now the youngin in the front seat ready to help is. Actually I'm selling the CRX right now on a few different sites and we are using the money to build ourselves a nice 2 car garage. We are by no way broke but we really watch what we need to spend the money on and right now its not a newer van. Like I said earlier maybe next year. I do know the S10 isn't the most professional but it works and works well. Just a little cramped when full. As far as the lettering goes it still is bare since we are still finalizing our logo and we just changed our phone number to (814) 63CLEAN. So we might letter it or we might not, not really sure yet.
By the way you are doing a dang good job if you have 12 trucks.
