    Question Help w/protected leather

I have a 600.00 leather job tomorrow. It is protected leather in a very upscale home. Problem is most leather I clean in upscale homes are not very soiled and clean up and protection is easy. But this white leather sofa is in great condition but very oily. Yes it will clean up but will take a lot of time to do by hand. Does anyone use or recommend a small machine to speed up the process and remove the oils??

    Re: Help w/protected leather

Here are a couple of examples of using Vapor steam on leather:

First is aniline (unprotected leather) what it started out as

    before and after to compare

    after

Now Protected leather (it was in a smoker's home for 10 years before we got to clean it
testing area to see what will come off

I have some excellent video on this and more leather cleaning, if there is interest we may do a webinar on it here someday.

Hope this helps with what you asked about, just one very easy and quick method to speed up cleaning on leather. I have done this for over 20 years with leather and have had great success in general cleaning and in many restoration type jobs.

Looks like good results. I just use Cleaners, Creams and rags but it is a PITA. Plus expensive.

    Re: Help w/protected leather

this may sound Hoaky Rob but I had a job last year all white leather with hair grease and baby oil from the custy arms. I keep a wool bonnet with a varible speed polisher in the vans for stairs. any ways It was going to be a long job. I have a stack of wool bonnets never used so I grabbed one and put it on then. used a mixed solution of cleaner and also protectant. 10% cleaner 90% pro. worked like magic and was done with 4 couches 2 love seats 4 recliners in about 2 hours. and the leather was absolutely renewed!
so in short a burnisher for waxing/polishing vehicles. real wool bonnet, set it on low to start with and polish it up on high with new clean bonnet sprayed with pro. gives a beautiful luster.

    Re: Help w/protected leather

I have a confession. I have used degreaser on leather. It was on my wife's car. Actually worked great. Just didn't let it sit on too long at all. It cleaned all that thick nasty grease and grime right off. Then went over it with protector. Looked great.
