is anyone familar with the old hydrocat tm's?

just wondering if anyone is familar with the old hydrocat tm's. there is a guy in town selling one with a van. i know its old but would be better than my portable. and its cheap! it was used as a backup and they don't need the tm or van anymore so i was thinking about picking it up.

Re: is anyone familar with the old hydrocat tm's?

Years ago one of my employees decided to go into business for himself. He got a Hyrdocat. Brought it around once in a while. It was a decent machine, but an entry level machine. Definitely above a portable but not a firebreather.

If you are mechanicly inclinced and can work on them, it will probably be a good deal. But don't expect your local distributor to know all baout them and have all the parts for an old model in stock.

You could give me a hydracat in a basket of pieces and I could put it together in my sleep.
I have owned 3 and logged over 30.000 hours on them.
PM me with any particular questions you have.

Boy that funny I just bought a Hydracat and a old van last month. I had to replace the pump but everything seams to work. Need to see if I can get the heater working now.

Re: is anyone familar with the old hydrocat tm's?

Brian ,there are still HydraCats still operating. They were so simple and well made that they
were as bullet proof as any truckmount ever made. Most came with Sutorbilt 4MF Blowers
and Cat 290 solution pumps. They were propane fired and were powered by mostly
Onan 20 HP engines. There were some that were coupled with Kholer Magnum series engines
18 or 20 HP. Later they came out with a dual wand using a 24 HP Onan with a Sutorbilt
4LL blower. They also used a Little Giant 4HT which produced 180,000 btus. The smaller
units in those days were called Bobcats and used Briggs and Stratton engines with 3MF Blowers
