      interested in the prowler 13......

how does the new prowler 13 stack up against a real tm?? i am intersted in it since it is a fraction of the price of actual tm. so how does it compare to a tm?? is it just a beefed up porty, or does it actually perform as well as a "real" tm?? it sounds like a lot of machine for $6000. i would be adding a waste and fresh water tank for the af/ad.

don't even think twice, but you will need the hose reel, 300 ft of hoses, waste tank and fresh water tank. so everthing will be more thant 6k, but I higly recommend that machine, more powerful than a portable, that machine is really simple.

Re: interested in the prowler 13......

      Brian,
I have an older Prowler 13hp and I must say I like it alot. It has a #2.4 blower so it is a "real" TM. As such is has many advantages over a portable machine. It is a positive displacement blower that excels water as it sucks it up, as such it is not susceptible to foam issues.

Mine only has a #2.4 blower but it is ran @ >5000rpm so it produces cfm similar to a #3 blower. The heat on mine is good, it maintains 175 degrees with the cleaning/dry strokes I do. I may add a little giant 3ht to the system since I own one already. That will take it up past 220 degrees.

The differences the Prowler has and advantages in my book are that it doesn't have a waste tank to lug around. It has a positive displacement blower and a powerful reliable engine, 2000 psi pump for T&G, and chemical injection. I have done approximately 5 jobs with it and have yet to find a place to dump. In California, it's ok to dump on a customers lawn so long as the waste water doesn't make it to the storm drain. I keep my counties water regulation in the vehicle with my MSDS's. So I have no problems. Dumping isn't as bad as it sounds or cleaners would have you believe. Go do a few jobs first, get over any fears you have then decide. It's just dirt and crap from the custy's carpet.

If I had to do it again, I would buy another 1, albeit the Prowler Scout.

With the Prowler or any machine your goal should be getting in and completing the job with care but in as minimal time necessary to do that job. Minimize excess. The way you do that is by having hose reels for everything, easy hook up to water source, an easy TM or portable to operate, easy way to mix chemicals.

I would'nt go back to a portable over the Prowler or any entry level TM no matter how high powered the porty was. Having said that, The Recoil 3hp that I owned years ago with quadra pak and dual 40 gallon waste tanks, hose reels, propane heat, etc in an Aerostar van was a contender. Same cleaning efficiency as any TM I've used.

Back in the Saddle Again !!! Congratulations !!
Believe I read an thread concerning 3ht w/Prowler by Jan Sullins, that will all the heat you will need!!
Nice testimonial for the Recoil. Seems like most previous Recoil owners share similar feelings.
      Good Luck!

Oh yeah, I also love the machine. It can not be compared to a portable. I have two 100 gallon tanks. One for fresh water and one for recovery, and it works well. Also, Amtex has amazing customer service. I would buy another one.

Many manufactures will rate their temperatures as well as cfm etc at the machine. What you end up at the wand will be dramatically reduced. My Little Giant is no different. I can heat up the water in my bucket top sprayer for my prespray mix to over 200 degrees yet I am using an short 6 ft solution hose.

Because as the post reads, I have an older Prowler 13hp, approximately 5 years old and it was built a bit differently then. The temps now I understand are constant. Plus my dumps water after 212 degrees or so and you lose pressure when it dumps. This I believe is protect the pump seals from excessively high water temp.

I may begin running my little giant 3ht to get the last bit of heat without worrying about if the Prowler's bypasscs are set properly. I would open them slightly to maintain 165 degrees then go into the little giant and out with 200+ all day long.

I'm not sure what mine is producing for heat, but I know it is more than 170. I have reached about 210-230 before (according to the guage).
