I'm interested in a down draft air mover and would like some feed back on these two.
I really like the Black Max but wonder what air mover is more durable / useful.

I placed a order for the Black Max last week. I liked the air flow and how it can be angled to dry stair case.
The Fans at Lowes seem to have a good price, more air flow and adjustable when compared to the Air path.
I should of looked at the Lowes line before I placed the order.
This forum is great for feed back on tools.

Can you please link to what you're talking about...........that just links to the lowes main page.do a search within this forum.....

I guess lowes doesn't allow direct linking to items. I only see a page with fans but don't see anything I'd consider "down draft".

The fans are adjustable.
I would think the paint would come off and maybe cause a problem, also I bet its (not safe) grounded.

What he is talking about is the utilitech fan that you can make face straight down thus having downdraft. This works fine,it just does not produce as much air flow as an airpath, then again you can buy 6 or 7 of them for 1 airpath.

So I assume you guys are talking about something like this?

It's definitely not ul listed or grounded....not that it bothers me.

I get the same fan at Harbor Freight for $50.00,and it is grounded.Where did you see that this one isnt grounded?

My mistake, it is grounded.

I got the black max and the http://www.lowes.com/pd_9236-49537-H...pl__4294857062 4294965690_4294937087_?identifier=
The Max really blow a stream of air with force behind it, The airstream 10 feet out is still tight and powerful. The max is well built and heavy.
The Lows fan in the link move some good air but does not have the force, 10 feet out, the air stream is very dispersed. There is no air flow in the center of the air stream (loose).

The Driez Studebaker works really well and can dry a room after carpet cleaning in 10-15 minutes in my climate. I also like Powr-Flites stuff but haven't tried that particular air mover.
The other fans everyone else keeps linking to don't look like what you would think a professional would use and would probably rust pretty quick. If you don't care how you look then by all means get the cheapest thing you can find. I'm sure Wal-Marts got something that'll last a few months. If you want to be a pro then buy what the pros buy.

I looked at the Studebaker and thought is was a downdraft only. It looks nice and sturdy. The Studebaker does not move as much air as the Max.
The Max is so powerful that I will only run it on the low speed in most homes.
I had the max in my kitchen on high, It blows the dust off the cooling coils on the back of the Refrigerator.
I can use the Max for downdraft and use it to dry a Staircase or Furniture.
