But now that's it's posted here...I'll give you my feedback.

If you don't feel comfortable about giving 50% off or a free room of cleaning, do NOT do it. I'm not going to talk you in to doing something you don't feel comfortable about doing.

My clients and I have had great success with this promotion. I do know that what I'm giving away for 50% is VERY highly profitable items that I can afford to give 50% off for a limited time. Plus, these offers spur on lots more cleaning during a slower time of year.

I luv this board and the fact that everything within our industry is allowed to be discussed without the fear of being shut down or shut up or banned in order to protect the advertiser and the money flowing in from the source while suckering the cleaner.

Maybe you should go back to Sesame Street Programing while turning your head the other way and afterward stick your head in the sand?

John pretty much explained it right on
1.Its winter
2.Free gifts are same as we would do as a free demo anyway
3. 50% off are only on high margin services

Actually rafael you kind of reacted exactly how john intends the consumer to react, WOW this is a alot, when really it is not that much cost to the contractor. Kinda proved his point in a way

I don't see a problem with the ad. I give "add on" discounts all the time if I am already there doing one service. Especially if it is the high margin services like the ones stated in the email.

well then grass hopper, if you have a life then go and be on your way........no need to hang around and mooch information from misrable people.

Some great points made above.

I think most of all the point to consider is that this email went out only to current clients or hot prospects who opted into my e-newsletter after stumbling upon my site or seeing my ad.

Here's something I see carpet cleaners choke on all the time..

"It's not perfect." But there is NO such thing as perfect advertising. Advertising contradicts itself all the time. Testing is what is important. But make sure you make an educated test.

And guess what? You'll NEVER, EVER catch your prospects attention with a boring ad that everyone says looks pretty. You have to go out on a limb if you want to get clients with your advertising.

I surely didn't create the email as a showcase to be posted on a bulletin board. But thanks Rafael for thinking of me.

Bottom line...it worked very well. If you can handle giving away your most profitable services at 50% for a short time, this can work well for you.

I'm with you brother cleaner.......boring ads and so on.......tombstone ads is what you see on most vans and so on......not all but lots are out there.

The thing that keeps me scratching what little hair I have on my head is that the high priced marketing gurus stick a whopping sticker price on their marketing materials and so on, that teaches you how to aim for the skies with your prices.....but then I see the same marketing gurus dropping their pants month after month after month and not only on slow seasons nor for a short time but every month after month after month....Unbelievable.
