Would YOU personally ever join a Stanley Steemer, Chemdry, Rainbow, Oxifresh, Heavens Best or Service Master Franchise?
Is so, why would you or why would you not team up with a cleaning franchise business?
Pros?
Cons?
Experiences?

ACaccamis thanked for this post

I would sell my soul to buy a stanley steamer franchise, that is a license to print money
Servicemaster, servpro, rainbow would definitely look at for restoration, not too sure on specifics though but would research
Looked heavily at Sears but they wanted a real lot and couldnt justify it, my area has been for sale for 8 years they cant sell it at the fee they want

if you feel you can sit back and the phone will ring no what are you looking for water fire carpet cleaning ect what aroud you for big names do you doing good on your own

whats the sales year

over all you pay for life has good days some bad

No i would never join one. One possible disadv is turnover of personal. The Co. spends time and $ to train an individual and then he or she leaves to start their own bizz. I just think there are 2 many headaches, even on a small scale of 2-4 employees, that is why I am solo, with an occasional helper. spotman. good topic!!!

*cough*cough* or a Paul Davis Franchise?
......Paul Davis has a new counter part to the full blown restoration divsion...We sold our Paul Davis Restoration to purchase a Paul Davis Emergency Service that targets water damage, mold damage, general clean up etc
We are enjoying not worrying about funding 6 figure rebuilds or ordering custom flooring etc that doesn not arrive like the sample looked and no returns or refunds.
It is nice having a 40+ year old name behind you when marketing, great training facility and the backing if "The Big One" ever hits your town.
Any questions feel free to PM or email me on what Paul can do for you

Personally No it would have too much of a Bad reputation for me. I prefer being the 1 man band operation Killing the Nationwide Franchises, all in the name of the game.
Andrew

Good point,,,,when the one man band screws up he just shuts down and starts up under a new name the next week![]()

I'd love to have a SS, Service Master, Paul Davis, or Chem Dry Franchise. Now, funding the startup costs is another matter.

Chemdry, heavens best, stanley steamer: No! I don't like they way they clean carpets and I would have a hard time morally doing it. Servicemaster would be my first pick because they have a great reputation and the national franchise recognition would springboard water restoration.

I would purchase a Rainbow Franchise, HANDS DOWN!!!![]()

It seems like you'd have to be committed to fast growth and substantial investment to do a franchise, but hopefully you get enough education & name recognition to make it worth it. It doesn't appeal to me for cc, but I could see doing it for wdr.
It doesn't seem like you see many franchise owners on the message boards, I wonder why that is.

Dan, I cant speak for the rest, but Rainbow has its own BB for franchise owners only, that may be why you dont see as many franchises on here because i would assume the rest of the franchises have the same setup.

I tried to buy both the ChemDry Capet Magic franchises. in southern Oregon. Corporate gave the approval and they came to the house saw all my cc vans. Told me they were sorry but I had a conflict of interest. and they got into their escalade and sent me an email of denial. I think I still have it saved. if not I know I have it printed up Somewhere. Each one of the franchises brings in on a slow year $150k Gross and their chemicals are no differant that whats available o.t.c. except the rinse agent. and the goofy truck mount they have is a co2 tank pressured system and I think its a boxxer 318 pirated and costs more than 36k there powerhead is no more than an rx20 even with the hydramster serial number still on. oh yeah its $6 g's to buy one from them to have a gearbox sheild with their name on it and differant skid design.

I read all of these and what I see is that the millions of $$$ that go to get their names out - works.
So for that reason - yes I would.

Would I go with a franchise? Maybe.
It would depend on two things:
1. My time frame and "exit plan". All other things being equal a franchise will a) normally have a shorter growth curve due to the systems and procedures you supposedly are buying and b) be easier to sell. (Usually to another franchisee who wants to expand.) Either way I wrote a complete report on how to prepare your business for it's eventual sale. http://www.strategiesforsuccess.com/...-eventual-sale The download is free.
2. My personality. Many people just flat out need to be held "accountable". A good franchise will do this with regular inspections/consultations. Many entrepreneurs will chafe at this level of control but honestly it probably is exactly what they need- tough love!
