Default “hot Water Extraction Cleaning Shrinks Carpets”

This article is from a blog, a owner of Clean Carpet:

http://blog.ubscleancare.com/2008/06...g-shrinks.html

CARPET CLEANING MYTHS EXPOSED!

Nope. Just another fairy tale.

Within the last fifteen years, the carpet manufacturing industry has made a unified change in tufting carpet, not in jute, but into a woven plastic known as polypropylene.

Now, using this as a primary backing in carpet and adding poly as a secondary backing, we have carpet fibers that are entirely synthetic. None of these are shrinkable!

Not even the most inept “splash ‘n dash” guy can shrink carpet - although there’s a bunch of other trouble they can cause!

There is one exception. The only way cleaning can cause shrinking is to over wet a woven carpet or jute backed carpet.

If this happens to these types of carpet, it’s the fault of the technician, NOT the method used to clean the carpet. A certified cleaning technician will know the difference!

That why I ask the customer what the carpet is worth and if its wool or not. If its a older wool carpet I will not extract only shampoo. Please note I let my certifcation expier. Why should I be certified with class time when S.S. and others national comp's get the cert. just for working for them with out training.

i you are a certified tec you should know if carpet is wool or man made carpet by opening the pile you should see if it is tufted carpet or woven carpet as we know primary backing in woven ( no primary backing but you will be able to see the jute thro the pile) and with the tufted carpet you will see the poly thro the pile in white color. if it is woven carpet just clean less moisture and rinse with acid rinse
