2005 butler won't start;
Belts turn freely, light on the first switch turns red when clicked to on, but nothing happens.
1) Check the over flow switch in the waste tank. The whole mechanism could be loose and hanging by one plastic screw. Work it and flushed it off thoroughly. Get the wires unplugged coming down the back side of the recovery tank...flood with WD-40 to remove..this will indicate an open circuit, thus fooling the Butler into thinking the float switch is working properly, so I just "snipped" one wire, thus creating an open circuit.
2) Owners manual says to check the Butler Fuse's....(not the circuit breakers on the front of the machine....remember the red light is on in the main start switch, so owner's manual says to check, float switch, fuses, and parking selector safety switch).
3) Owners manual says to check the parking safety switch.
Crawl under the van just behind the drivers door you will see the parking selector safety swith.. there should be an adjustment nut on it, it may be covered in some heat foil..
Check for a loose connection at the Park Safety Switch.
There is also a fuse for the Butler System in the Engine Compartment.
Check the safety switch on the transmission , especially since you recently had transmission work.
The fuse you seek is in the main baord, also under hood.
Next the adjustment to the parking safety switch is on the tranny where you will see the switch. In time dust and road grit will affect this and it can get replaced.
Check the relays. The relays are below the switches if I remember right. You may be able to replace it with one matched at the auto parts store. Not exact though. Machine stays running so you have to use the key. Ordered the right one $40 from butler compared to $10-15 auto parts store.
I can help with the chem system too if you don't mind running chems through pump and exchangers. I think 05 was a bad year cause I had a blower lock up at 300-400 hours.
IF THE RED LIGHT STILL COMES ON WHEN THE ROCKER SWITCH IS PUSHED.
Behind the waste tank on the back side where the wires are is an unsed plug in. Disconnect the waste tank float wire and plug it in the unused plug. It is a by-pass to the waste tank float, until you can get a new float.
Remember to use WD-40 to get the plug in the line to the float vlve unplugged....flood it with WD-40!
Suprarob.
